Maybe it should have had emergency blinkers. Once there's not enough power to run the computer, switch the power to use a capacitor, let it charge up, then FLASH. No computer needed. Might run for a long time, as long as the capacitor can accumulate a charge. Might start at 1 flash/minute, the 1 per hour, then 1 per day.........

According to article in Wall Street Journal (nov 14, 2024), Bank safe deposit boxes are a dying breed. Though there may be private (non-bank) companies providing similar services they have other risks. On March 22, 2021, the FBI seized around 1,400 safe deposit boxes from U.S. Private Vaults (search for it). It's taken years for anybody to get their stuff back.

Comment Why don't I see all those supposed popups/ads (Score 1) 149

I've been running Windows 10 Pro (desktop, 4 years) and Windows Pro 11 (laptop, 1.5 years). No ad stopping software installed. I don't remember any of the ads popping up people are always complaining about. Just used Edge to download chrome browser, no popups. Just saved it where I told it to. Just spent 20 seconds installing chrome browser. No popups. Nothing. Nada. Zip. What am I doing wrong ? I've been using Windows since Windows/386, Linux since 1990's. Old fart.

I've been using Windows 11 on my Dell laptop since May 2022. I haven't seen ANY advertising. What do I have to do to see advertising ? I use Firefox as my browser. Is that why ? I use Windows 10 on my used Dell desktop (3.6ghz, 4core), again, no advertising. Updates have yet to interfere with anything for either system. I've been using Windows since Windows 386 (yes, I'm a boomer). Also used Linux as a data processing platform, starting with Xenix, then SCO Unix (damn them forever), then Linux. Used for remote data collection platforms. Retired 2007.

My father's brother (born 1921, Brooklyn NY) got Polio as a child. He was relatively lucky, just a permanent limp. The worst thing about anti vaccine types, are that they keep the disease in circulation. If they just died, I wouldn't care (unless it's their children, who were allowed no chance for the vaccination).
