I name my PCs/Servers by the core name of the CPU:
My desktop is "Agena" (Phenom X4)
Laptop is "Trinidad" (Turion X2)
Wife's Laptop is "Merom" (Celly)
File Server is "Sparta" (AM2 Sempron)


I've been doing this for years and it's a built in reminder that I need to upgrade whenever I connect to another machine. ;)
