Comment Retracted Story (Score 1) 367

The story has basically been retracted.
1. The system costs $11,000, but the valve itself is just a few dollars
2. Medical regulations prevent them from sharing the plans
3. There were no threats, just a vague possibility
4. The company involved has already said there will be no action
5. The OEM valves are preferred, with a longer life, but these will help fill demand
6. The OEM has declared that they are currently unable to meet demand and welcome the second-source

Or updates to existing apps can change data patterns. Remember when FB added the autoplay video feature that would start streaming video even when you were on a mobile network? A lot of people got screwed by that...

Regardless, i don't think T-Mobile should be responsible at all for what's on your phone. It's your responsibility to watch what your phone is doing, and if you can't do that, just upgrade your plan. It's not like T-Mobile isn't reasonable about it either, you still have a data connection.

PhD Candidate Talks About the Physics of Space Battles 361

darthvader100 writes "Gizmodo has run an article with some predictions on what future space battles will be like. The author brings up several theories on propulsion (and orbits), weapons (explosives, kinetic and laser), and design. Sounds like the ideal shape for spaceships will be spherical, like the one in the Hitchhiker's Guide movie."
