Does anyone know of an open source program to recover corrupted floppies? It seems that google only shows commercial programs that charge to detect. I've tried Sourceforge but the search tool there sucks.

    I kid. Unfortunately, I can't offer any suggestions. Back when I did this sort of thing I think I used the old Norton's Utilities -- which are not only commerical, but PC and old.

    • Yeah, that is the standard. I also remember CanOpener for the mac, or maybe it was something else. It is striking how you can find these gaping holes in Open Source "coverage" of stuff. They're very very rare, but in this case I was hoping to google for it and get a free tool for like every OS. It had never even occured to me that I might need this before. But seen my own old floppies, I wish I could be shown how to code one myself.
