Submission + - Local users get to play root on Fedora (redhat.com)

eqisow writes: The new default policy for Fedora 12 allows local, unprivileged users to install signed packaged without root access. This change apparently went mostly unnoticed until after the Fedora 12 GA release, at which point it sparked a mailing list thread that is, as of this writing, over 100 posts long.

The arguments for both sides can be seen on Red Hat's bugzilla as well as on the mailing list, but what does the Slashdot community think? Was this a good move or should it be reverted? Should there have been more discussion on the subject sooner?
