Journal ellem's Journal: The Godfather :: Atomic Train 2
So I watched The Godfather last night for the first time ever. Here's my thoughts.
1) I wish I hadn't read the book. It made the movie seem like an inside joke to everyone who had read the book. When I read The Exorcist years after seeing it I appreciated the movie. I realized there was no way they could have gotten in all in and was amazed at how well they strung it together. I don't see how anyone could follow that movie without having red the book. I realize the same is true for The Godfather but it still irked me.
2) I don't think Marlon Brando was all that great. In fact, Vito Corleone is much better in the book.
3) Al Pacino was stunningly good.
4) The guy who played Tom Hagen was amazing too.
5) After i re-cast & re-shoot Crossroads (the Ralph Macchio/Steve Vai movie) I thnk I will re-cast & re-shoot The Godfather. I'm not sure where but Annabella Sciorra will be in it, naked, a lot.
My wife watched the worst TV & Movies have to offer. If it has:
a shark
is underwater
Treat Williams
a mutated shark
Valeri Bertinelli crying
my wife is watching it. Tonight is Atomic Train starring (no really):
Rob Lowe
Kristen Davis (and she wasn't cast as Catwoman because...)
Mena Suarvi
It is so fucking unbelievably bad, so unlikely, so porly acted all I can think is I want to destroy the dish on my roof and smash my Sony into 36 one inch bits. I was yelling at the TV. I had to step away.
It's like when TV shows have computers. It makes me insane.
Thank God I have 12 Summer Ales handy.

5. Her, in that circumstance, would be good anywhere. The more the merrier though, right? =9

You should check out some of Mario Puzo's other work if you liked The Godfather. He wrote a book called "The Last Don" that was pretty good.
