Journal ellem's Journal: Up the reps, up the pain... 10

So on most mornings I'm apt to do 15-20 push ups and 15-20 sit ups.

I upped it to 50 for the New Year and do it at least 4 out of 5 days...

OW!

Fucking Ow. This sucks Ow.

There's some rib/back muscle and they hurt. Plus the thingies behind your upper arm... those fuckers hurt. And my ass... Ow.

Stupid No Pain No Gain... Ow.

Don't have a set number. Have a goal, and do as many as you can. My take on it is that pushups are better when they are done more slowly. I did two sets yesterday, instead of my normal three, but I still got that good pain. :-) Today was the normal workout routine (treadmill, two turns through the weight machines, stationary bike). My numbers are a little higher than yours, because I've been doing it for a year and a half. I keep it to no more than 50 crunches, though, because more tends to aggravate my back.

Keep it up, though, it does get easier. And you will look much better in a turtleneck. On the negative side, I've had to buy a lot of new clothes. The old ones just got way too baggy.

But baggy clothes are all the rage with the kids these days. Think of your street cred, yo!
      • Well, I'm not exactly a kid any more. :-) And there is such a thing as too baggy. I've lost something like four inches in waist size, so my pants were just looking weird. In shirts, the shoulders were close but the rest was like a tent.

The uh, workout has very limited time. Basically between when I get out of bed and when the shower is pumping pure steam. I actually do this in the bathroom. (It's OCD clean.)

Been thinking about a gym or Bowflex thingy... I mean I'm 6'2" and go around 195~210 depending on my poop status :) so I'm relatively normal shaped. I have 4 6~8 minute walks including LOTS of stairs everyday... I am just crazy sore... I have no idea why.

perhaps a Body Solid [bodysolid.com] machine?

They really do stand by their "lifetime gaurantee"- one of my cables got a "flat" spot so it wasn't a smooth pull and they just sent me new ones.

You also get the fun of putting it together yourself! (which I have done 3 times for the same damn machine, which is it's own work out).

/currently sore from all the ditch-digging I did in the yard yesterday

WHO IS MODDING ME UP?! I just got two in a row!

Stop! You're wasting mod points! Seriously. Give them to someone who A) doesn't have excellent karma, and B) Cares about slashdot. Because I certainly don't!

/just to keep things slightly on topic: mid back on the left side is still sore!! Lower back is at 100% since Monday.
