ruhri writes: A 16 year-old girl in Florida not only has been expelled from her high school but also is being charged as an adult with a felony after replicating the classic toilet-bowl cleaner and aluminum foil experiment.

This has quite a number of scientists and science educators up in arms. The fact that she's African American and that the same assistant state attorney has decided not to charge a white teenager who accidentally killed his brother with a BB gun has some thinking whether this is a case of doing science while black.

After hours of testimony for and against House Bill 26, which repeals the 2008 Louisiana Science Education Act, the senators narrowly deferred the legislation, effectively killing it in committee. The bill was sponsored by Sen. Karen Carter Peterson, D-New Orleans.

We just need to use a mashup of service enabled architectures to provide a seamlessly semantic experience.

I second the vote for Logitech's proprietary cordless mice. I got me a Logitech VX Revolution for my Asus netbook, and it has excellent battery life, great precision and an almost invisible receiver. The size of the receiver was what initially sold me on this mouse, since anything protruding from a netbook is bound to break sooner rather than later.
