I can't really see describing Amazon as an underdog. Even though they may not yet have a presence with consumer business applications, I am not sure that describing any group they are with to break into that space as a "rebel alliance". I don't understand why, when popular opinion is to just do away with DST entirely. I like waking up when it is at least a little but light outside, and whenever it is starting to do that during the year it seems like we change clocks and go back to darkness in the mornings.
I agree, that if the benefits are elusive and the negatives are so clear, this practice should just be ended and not extended.

Do you for some reason think she shouldn't express her opinion based on her own knowledge? I'm sure we here at Slashdot understand why companies would be placed on such lists and I expect Ms. Raimondo does as well. If she had disagreed with the decision based on publicly available information she could have expressed that opinion as well. I find her answer vague enough to not be upsetting; her response leaves the door open to reversing the decision if there isn't sufficient evidence to keep them on the lists but more or less says she doesn't have any reason to think it wasn't justified. It has been hard to separate the real reasons from the hype over the past four years so in some ways it remains to be seen how much the decision was because of Trump's failed trade war and how much was truly because of national security.

NO.

Again, a question in a headline with the answer no. It is not time to get rid of time zones. It is however time to do away with Daylight Savings.

Time zones generally correlate to sunrise & sunset, placing a typical work-day centered generally around Noon-1 PM. UTC is just that, a reference time, but not a time we should routinely use in every locale.
