Keep dreaming! I retired from Boeing after 20+ years and the capsule program is par for Boeing. Management quest to cut costs led to layoffs or early retirement of experienced engineers in all fields. The Max and the Starliner fiascos are a direct consequence of the quest for maximum share price.

The mention of Gatineau was the first clue that this story was from Canada. My one gripe with the article is its insistence on mentioning that the interviewees spoke in French. Before any of you get your panties in a knot, I was born in Québec and I'm francophone and have worked in the government buildings in what use to be called Hull and has since be renamed to Gatineau.

People should have at least a general understanding of how things work.

Back when I studied CS, you hade to build your own 8-bit computer and program it in machine language. Given that that is no longer a requirement, I guess most people who study CS now and in the near past don't really understand how computer really work.

Making CS a graduation requirement is pointless. Teach them other computer related matter. Online safety, your posts last forever so be mindful of what you post. How to spot scams and/or disinformation. Etc.

At my last position before retirement, if an application was not customer facing then it did go to the Cloud but was hosted on the companies internal Cloud. This was a Fortune 30 company, so it could afford to host a private Cloud then so should a national government.

I'm old enough to have started photography in the film days. Other than black and white film developed using B&W developers, color film was color corrected automatically and a standard tone curve was also applied during printing. Color films does not have a gamut that accurately reflect the color seen by the human eye.

By the your logic and that moronic exec, even film photos are fake.

to the point that we crave these glasses like a drug, like we crave our iPhones today

I was 43 when the first iPhone was released. As such I did not grow up with a smartphone and I don't find myself addicted to it. When I'm at home the phone goes into the charging cradle and stays there until I leave the house or go into the shop.

Perhaps smartphone addiction is a generational thing?
