Journal drinkypoo's Journal: AT&T FuzeFAIL 1

I decided to try out the Windows Mobile-based AT&T Fuze; this is the GSM version of the Sprint Touch Pro. The hardware is codenamed Raphael. It blows! There is a problem with the keyboard cable which first causes repeating keys and then lack of function; it is solvable with a small piece of electrical tape, but of course, I'm not going in there.

The phone is also exceptionally choppy in common use; there are actually phone software images which update you to WinMo 6.5, but of course they are not official. Flashing back to factory status is pretty easy, luckily. No matter what I did, this phone still sucks.

AT&T failed big; they could not send me an iPhone as a replacement for my stupid Fuze. So right now I think I'm just going to get a tracphone, so I can make calls. I had the unlimited data plan, too. Maybe in another year or so there will be a phone I am interested in, but right now they all seem to be garbage and/or overpriced. The lack of a MicroSD slot on the iPhone in particular is terribly offensive to me.

  • The lack of a microSD isn't really as onerous as it would seem. Just install the dropbox or zumodisk app and you can have an effectively unlimited amount of disk space if it's necessary. In practice it just isn't.
