Comment Easy no (Score 1) 149

A company thatâ(TM)s going toconsume massive energy and water resources while presumably throwing millions out of work and onto the public dole in the name of cost savings does not deserve taxpayer money. They have to bear all the risk if they want the rewards. Otherwise they are a useless parasite.

Comment Smart devices are about monetizing you (Score 2) 123

All these smart widgets, like smart phones, are designed to monetize you for advertising purposes. Thats it. Your âoesmart fridgeâ is collecting data about your grocery shopping, your smart tv is collecting information about your viewing habits. Your computer and isp are tracking your web habits, as is your favorite vpn provider. Your smart phone is collecting information about where you are going and what you are doing (even at the carrier level). Your car will soon be tracking your movements and driving habits so the data can be sold to car insurers. Itâ(TM)s all about data, ads, and finding new and better ways to drive consumption.

AI is going to replace coding. Maybe not in the next 5 years but certainly within the next 20. Users will either write UML or a flowchart/decision tree and the AI will generate the code, test it, refine it, and publish it out in under an hour. This is no different than people learning code from a book of samples routines or libraries.

What especially galling is the fact that money is totally fake (we made it ourselves and its value is arbitrary) yet it is driving us to extinction in the form of low birth rates, pollution excuses, energy stupidity, etc. with the exception of a particular dog in South America, humans are the only creatures that need money.

Comment They realized the downside (Score 1) 54

Investing heavily in ai will kick millions out of jobs, costing governments in terms of tax revenue, welfare benefits, and infrastructure investments. What do these AI pushers expect their consumer base to look like? The USA seems to be pushing yo socialize the costs of data center power while the employees lose their jobs. So who ultimately picks up the tab?
