That would be an improvement for Microsoft.
That evil guy Trump has the solution, created last Friday- $100,000 minimum application fee for new H-1bs
If Trump wants to make the $100,000 H-1b fee *extremely popular among techies*:
-$30,000 to an American worker laid off in the last 36 months for retraining funds and or job coaches
-$50,000 in a trust fund for the worker to be paid upon purchase of a return ticket when the visa expires, or alternatively, to pay for a conversion to an immigrant visa
-$15,000 to the revenue to help pay for INS/ICE and the bureaucrats to process the application
-$5,000 to a company that cancels an H-1b application to hire a US Citizen
California's population in 2023 was 39 million and had ~100,000 deaths attributed to COVID and California had some of the strictest COVID policies.
What's your point?
That California was more diligent in tracking covid deaths while Florida deliberately went out of its way to hide its numbers.
No different than that anti-vaxxer Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. who said in April he'd have an answer for what causes autism by September.
It's not belittling. It's asking a question whose answer might have been known, but hearing it from the horse's mouth removes all doubt.
Once you threaten a public official, as happened in this case, the Secret Service is involved. The SS is also involved in protecting foreign dignitaries when they come to this country.
Thus, with the UN session going on, they were doing what they should. They were probably (most definitely) working with the FBI and DHS, possibly even NSA, on this.
Ant bets that the deal specifies WHICH US data it is trained on? None of the liberal stuff, just right wing data. I think TikTok is going to end up being the video version of twitter really quickly.
They say it will price them out, but that depends on the break point. The reason they like H-1Bs is they can get workers who will work for less and work more hours because they are trapped in the H-1B structure and are terrified to lose their job, because then they will be deported. So if they truly make $15-20k in profit for the company, will changing to a US based worker who likely will want a higher salary and not work crazy hours be worth it? My guess is they just lock in the H-1Bs for more years and pay them less to keep their profits up. Or they try outsourcing straight to India again and skip bringing them to the US at all.
EVs would be residential, not wholesale, pricing.
Big AI Data Centers would be wholesale pricing.
If you were dumb enough to buy one of these "smart" refrigerators, you get what you deserve. There is absolutely no reason to have a "smart" refrigerator. It's a refrigerator. It should only do two things: keep the stuff in the fridge cool and the stuff in the freezer frozen.
Anything else is a waste of money.
But they have no problem paying $50 to have a Big Mac delivered to them.
Perhaps a rethinking is in order.
