He has some fair points, but the motivation for making them is pretty transparent. Getting rid of their fastest growing rival. Facebook's record on privacy and manipulating users to their own detriment is atrocious. They are the platform of choice for attempts to influence foreign elections or spread conspiracy theories and are happy to cooperate with the draconian policies of authoritarian countries to further their business across the globe.
What is remarkable about TikTok is how little of the content is overtly political compared its western rivals - it's mostly frivolous videos for the ADHD generation or those burnt out from a decade of the culture wars on Twitter/Facebook/Instagram. Totally brain dead content. They mostly just reinvented what channel surfing on TV used to be.
Everything said about China just happens to be true but make no mistake that motivation here isn't anything more than $$$

they're a solution in search of a problem!
Actually, it's worse than that; it needlessly increases the surface area for cyber attacks in a world where cyber crime is rife and
there's a giant conflict going on that could end up as World War 3. I can think of a few countries that would just love you to have as
many smart devices in your home as possible, especially if they control physical things, without naming names.
I personally didn't know that I needed Apple to protect me from moral corruption like that.
Maybe they are the One True Religion after all and should have more censorship powers than the Pope himself!
