Professor Says UFO Studies Should Be Taught At Universities 311

New York anthropology professor Philip Haseley wants young people to get the best education possible, and part of that education, he says, should be about UFOs. Haseley thinks universities should offer classes on UFOs and other unexplained phenomena from space. "[A sighting] happens to millions of people [around the world]. It's about time we looked into this as a worthy area of study. It's important that the whole subject be brought out in the open and investigated," he said. I want to believe the truth is out there in 500 words or less.

Want a Body Piercing With That Server? 19

1sockchuck writes "The web hosting business is known for promotional gimmicks. But here's an unusual one: ServerBeach UK is offering a free body piercing with every new server ordered on April 1st. 'We were tired of the typical boring giveaways that have been done to death' said ServerBeach's Dominic Monkhouse. The stunt revives memories of earlier guerrilla marketing efforts by web hosts, like the 'human billboard' who was paid $7,000 to tattoo a hosting company's logo on the back of his head."

Submission + - Satellite Internet Providers

pitchblende writes: Our company works in remote locations in Northern Canada. We have been experiencing major communications problems with our current satellite service. We use satellite systems that go for about $1000 apiece, with $100/month in fees. The service is "shared" rather than dedicated, and our VOIP, etc, has been getting worse by the day lately. From what I can tell, dedicated systems go for $30k and up. I hope someone(s) out there has some suggestions, recommendations?

Journal Journal: Nine Years, one Village.

Wow, nine years have gone by since I moved into this tiny Village I call home. One school for the children, one church in the Village, one Grocery store, one car dealership, one lake to fish and swim in, one theater, one fire engine to ride in, one great place to grow one family.

Journal Journal: Fantastic Activities for Kids

This story about the eyeglass printer had a unexpected outcome. Happy children. SAUL GRIFFITH NOTABLE INVENTIONS, COLLABORATIONS AND HOBBIES included HowToons.org "One-page cartoons that teach children about engineering by showing them how to build their own toys, games and inventions out of everyday household items." Not that anyone in our tiny village ever invented anything.

Journal Journal: Steve Railsback and "The Stunt Man"

Certainly one of the best things I did learn today was that that 1980 Cult Classic "The Stunt Man" is out on DVD. A small bit of happy news in the otherwise unhappy day in history.
