Submission + - XNA Game Studio Express hits the streets

d.3.l.t.r.3.3 writes: "The long awaited XNA Game Studio Express public Beta it's finally here. Despite some high claims by Microsoft, the Game Studio remains a code-only experience, with a more coherent and less fragmented feature set than the old DirectX 9 SDK.

As I describe in this review, XNA has successfully streamlined many dull tasks of game development (helped a bit by the new game-supportive features of Windows Vista) but also left behind some pretty important pieces and bugs (especially when it comes to cross platform input handling and audio) to be successfully considered a real multi-platform game developing tool."

Submission + - Who created the Warforged?

d.3.l.t.r.3.3 writes: James Jones (Turbine), declared on an interview at MMORPG.COM that D&D Online and Turbine basically built the world of Eberron introducing and inventing many elements that, in reality, were already present in the Campaign Settings since early design, like the Warforged race.

Since MMORPG dodged the bullet when a well informed Eberron fan pointed the glaring errors, I asked Keith Baker (Eberron Game Designer) to clarify the matter. He promptly gave his own opinion, confirming that Warforged were his own original creation and that the words of James Jones were a poor choice. He also doctored the Turbine staff about what a Campaing Setting really is.

The inevitable conclusion of the article is: how much online gaming sites can be trusted, when they are protecting their own sponsors image, even in front of a community that points out glaring errors?
