Journal cyranoVR's Journal: I Love My Job 5

I love my job. Pretty soon it's going to be a full year since I wrote a single line of database code! CRUD? Hibernate? What's that? My world is entirely about concurrency puzzles, pure OOP and blistering performance. J2SE 5.0 to teh extreme.

Just plain rocks.

  • Well, at times, anyway.

    The project you helped me get straightened out on has been in daily use at both of our schools for eight months. I’ve been spending much of my time lately adding features and improving performance. The system to keep the locations in sync is mostly running and is being debugged, and next week it’ll start replacing portions of our accounting workflow. It’s really nice to think of myself as a developer.

    • No problem - now start planning for the SQL Server / .NET upgrade!
      • I’ve already made sure that the back end will be fairly painless to move to SQL Server or even another platform.

        As for the front end... I started off trying to keep the VB and SQL cleanly separated, and to use only platform-independent SQL constructs, but alas...
