Journal cyranoVR's Journal: On the Anti-Child Mindset 28

"The mind-set that invites a couple to use contraception is an antichild mind-set," she told me. "So when a baby is conceived accidentally, the couple already have this negative attitude toward the child. Therefore seeking an abortion is a natural outcome. We oppose all forms of contraception."

On the Anti-Child Mindset

  • I love to hate children.
    • Actually children are fine; it is the idiot parents that drive me crazy. Like this weekend, I finally went to go see V for Vendetta, and again I was amazed at how many people brought little (as in, under three years old) kids to a RATED R MOVIE. And a violent scary one at that. And then one of the parents would not take the screaming kid out of the theater. I was soooooo close to just blowing a gasket on this idiot parent (somewhere up in the back of the theater). Personally I think this kind of behavior is
      • There was an infant in my X-men 3 showing, which was, by the way, a 10:30 pm show. While they probably won't be tramatized, it shows a complete lack of consideration of others to bring somebody as unpredictable as an infant (and unable to communicate other than via crying) to any movie. I've seen kids fearfully crying during scary/bloody movies to which their parents brought them.

I think the people who brought their young kids to Body Worlds were also completely out of line.

Not being able to do whatever y

What sane parent would subject their very young children to a movie like Hostel? And for anyone who cares:

I am speechless (or at least as speechless as I ever get). The only way this will ever be fixed is probably with a law, which is idiotic.

        • My kid loves PG-13 and R-rated material. He isn't scared- he thinks it is funny. I still wouldn't take him to a theater though, for a number of reasons. At 3, his language is too far behind, and he's likely to run off through a crowd and not stop when I ask him to. His "inappropriate" laughter would scare everybody around him who doesn't know him. And finally, he's just not ready to view movies in public at all, he'd be way too loud.

So I rent the DVD's, we watch them at home, and he goes wide-eyed at
  • But only if they are properly cooked ...
  • I would make abortions MANDATORY for anyone who already had a child.

Screw that, I would NEUTER both of the parents.

Right after I neutered and sliced the heads off of all the republicans who are in office, and the FUCKWITS who voted for them.

    • Going for that good ole' extermination of the human race? (Seeing as how by accident only, the human race needs an average of 2.1 children per family to survive, and you want to limit the world to 1, this would result in a nice, slow, extermination that ends long after you're dead).
      • Just for a few generations. We don't exactly need, *runs off to check figures* 6.6 billion people.

        • You might not, but then again, the United States, when you take away the influence of immigrants, has been in negative population growth for the last two generations. Immigrants need the kids to work- and help feed the family. Poor people in third world nations are living in similar economies- where there is still a labor shortage. It's highly bigoted to insist that your way of life is what everybody in the world should live.
          • From what I have encountered living in a neighborhood that has a large population of immigrants (30%+, census says 30%, I walk down the street and I say 40% or more), and being in a long term relationship WITH an immigrant, I would say that the idea of immigrants in America needing their children to work is a fallacy.

            Indeed, the successful immigrants send their children off to college (at a rate that is equal to or higher than born-in-america families). Granted, they do rely on their children working;

            • The more people in a family who work, the better off that family will be, is the equation used around the world in societies much more poor than ours. Yes, if they're well enough off, anybody can do the math and see that a college education is (or, at least used to be) a good investment. But I'd point out that strict population control would mean no kids to send to college.

And is a great example of one that does NOT apply to American Society.

More people means higher housing prices. More people means less resources and more demand, which results in everybody ends up paying more for everything.

Higher resources means there is a need for a bigger house (while the children are growing up) driving housing prices up higher and reducing

Yes, which just PROVES MY POINT- that this anti-child attitude is a part of the culture of death, and your beliefs on population growth are nothing more than myoptic bigotry based on YOUR chosen lifestyle.

You're the one who brought up 6.6 billion people- the population of America is pushing 290 million, and that could easily be brought down in a couple of generations by simply protecting the borders and ending immigration (native born Americans have not been breeding at replacement level for 30 years now).

You are the one who said that my policy would result in the extinction of the human race. Hard to do that if it is limited to the US! My point remains, you could ditch a goodly amount of the US population and still have humanity on rather stable and safe ground. :)

                    • Yah but then our culture would become even more decadent and worthless.

Without children, without a reason to sacrifice for others, that's going to happen anyway. The anti-child mindset, or the culture of death as the late Pope John Paul II called it, is strongly linked to the decadance and materialism of this culture.

I really do not trust the white American culture that brought us "it is ok for teenagers to have sex, do drugs, and party their butts off" to continue leading America. Nor do I trust the "
  • Particularily the point on the difference between looking at sex as recreation and looking at sex as a moral duty to one's family and community. I may be liberal on most things- but this is one that I'm lock step in with the Church on. I still don't think making sins illegal does any good unless you deal with the root of the sin however- and that's why I'm for mandatory sex education that basically says that the only thing the sex act is for is having children- and doing it ought to, by law, BE marriage.

Actually, the idea of family and children as a duty in marriage and society goes back a lot further than that- even the largely bisexual society of ancient Greece reserved marriage as a duty connected to child raising- you could
