The world seems to be moving towards trying to simplify time a bit, e.g. by discontinuing leap seconds.

Management paid little attention to dates in the 20th century does anyone seriously think they will pay attention to a leap hour as an edge case for time? I'm gonna have to get more popcorn. Obviously the issue is because software is still made as cheaply as possible and even with the subject of time right in their face they still don't code to handle it. So let's abolish accuracy and assume the earth is always the same size - slaps forehead.

Personally I'd start a project to build a booster large enough to correct the Earth's orbit of the sun to a nice round 256 days

Maybe 360 days would make it nice and round.

Here's a solution for you. Universal coordinated time. UCT is the same time around the world. You don't have to ever change what time it is.

Fuck it - let's go epoch time all around the world no more DST, no stupid 720 degree clock or timezones. While we're at it - let's get rid of days of the week, month and years as well. It's 1791452533 right now, I'll see you at 1791452533.

I'd say another drawback to getting rid DST is that any tradesman working outside would have to start banging hammers an hour earlier to miss the heat of the day waking people up whilst construction projects miss an hour per day, per person, per project because exhaustion leads to fatal work accidents.

Then there is the additional energy consumption required for lighting in the evening that would have been provided by the sun for free.

I guess it's probably about to get an order of magnitude worse and the only way to navigate it will be crowdsourcing, but the gaming world already feels much like people are prompting their way to releasing games. Remember the days when there were only dozens or hundreds of games released per year? What seems crazy to me is that although most of them have very low-quality assets, there's so many actually playable and working games which are more or less fully realized, at least to the point that they have entire communities. I guess that's a testament to the ease of game creation with some of these engines.

The interesting AI-related question to me is whether it's going to increase or decrease average quality. TBH I think it might actually increase it, because so many of these games are so half-assed. At minimum it should make them prettier.

Agents don't cause attacks. People running agents do.

The people who ran the agents were negligent at best but I have an alternate theory.

If they knew the technology could go sideways and hack things then they effectively executed those hacks intentionally.

If not they are only negligently ignorant which is not generally a crime in this context.
