The other side to this coin is that making a deliberate choice not to have a kid is also depriving a potential being of a life that it might well have thought of as a net positive. In saying that, I'm not suggesting anyone is burdened with a responsibility to have children, but it's not necessarily all about you, sometimes it's also about them. It's a crapshoot as to whether they would view life as worthwhile or not - you can't say whether one choice is definitively better than the other.

From this, it should be clear that there is a major disconnect between the very loud voices, amplified by the media, of a minority in favour of climate action and the average person who doesn't actually give much of a fuck.

You need to get rid of these people, whether they're working in the office or remote. I've found that when I need to get my head around something, a video call with the right people screen sharing is just as good as an in-person catch-up. The key, though, is to let them know ahead of time what you want to learn, so they have a chance to prepare themselves.

I've seen the opposite trend in my teams, and I suspect they're spending more time working now than they should be, after upsetting the work life balance with covid. On a personal note, I am able to be a lot more productive when working from home, because there are less distractions and I spend less time on general banter with people in the office. Discussions are more focussed on the work in video calls and they tend to disband more abruptly than office meetings once conclusions are drawn. Perhaps it's down to the type of people working in the teams, or it could be the tools you have in place, the culture, the processed or the management style.
