"The interesting thing about the Internet is you don't actually have to do business in a country to have your product used there... and even to profit from that. Bits generally ignore borders and governments and only care about valid routes, which can be created outside government control if you're motivated to do so."
Plot twist: China!
It's a rather simple concept called "fraud".
So far, Russia only has a special military operation. Not a war.
Stop lying that the "power" you felt was coming from your extra income. It came *EXCLUSIVELY* from your status as an American citizen.
In Egypt, Americans are treated different (for example, unless it's murder, they don't even get arrested).
For the record, I'm an EU citizen living in Egypt since 2006.
"Microsoft made a significant paradigm-shifting improvement in their OS platform was the adoption of Dec VMS code"
This is a factually incorrect claim. There is literally no VMS code inside any Microsoft operating system. None. Zilch. Nada. In case you still believe in your claim, please provide citation from a believable source.
Protection of rights is less about you directly than forbidding the government from wielding the powers of a dictator at its whim.
There is a very easy way to try to falsify your statement. Should American police departments be also forbidden from using hand guns, since dictatorships use hand guns too?
The fact that you post this kind of idiotic claims is sad. The fact that you have the right to vote is scary.
The link is about private citizens minding their own business.
The senator is talking about using / not using Clearview AI to identify suspects.
If you can't see the difference between regular population and CRIME SUSPECTS, I'm afraid you're more interested in protecting criminals than in protecting the regular population.
I truly don't understand his point. Is he saying that Clearview AI should not be used for specific crimes? If the protesters did not break the law, why would the senator be afraid of? And if they indeed break the law, why would he want the LEOs to have fewer tools at their disposal?
Why do you keep painting Russia as an enemy?
Because it's a fact (an important one).
Who dictates this?
Common sense.
What do you get in return for doing this?
Awareness.
What is the goal?
Survival.
Why don't you know when to stop?
Stopping awareness and preparations while the danger increases is not an option.
Russia had the chance to come clean after the fall of the USSR and say
"Russia as a country was also a victim of the murderous totalitarian imperialist Soviet Union"
then build up a vibrant democracy with a tolerant and open society. Unfortunately, under Boris Yeltsin they choose the opposite, a process accelerated and expanded under Vladimir Putin.
This is Europe, we don't accept the american misinterpretation that anarchy is freedom
I'm from Europe (European Union, to be precise). Who's this "we" you're making claims about? It certainly doesn't include me, my family, my friends, and a lot of people I read about in the EU media I may be reading. What you claim is true about the legal framework in Germany, but not in Romania.
So let's slow down with this uncritical embracing of the government as "we", of Germany as the whole EU, and of EU as the whole Europe.
Your inability to understand sarcasm is tremendous, tremendous!
German employers (and I don't really think it is all too much different elsewhere, either) do nothing in favour of the employee even if it would not cost them anything
It is an extraordinary claim, so please provide proof that work from home is really cost-free to companies.
let alone if they think it might cost them something.
So you're ok with the government imposing yet another cost and mandatory behavior on private companies? For no reason?
For no reason = neither the OP nor you have provided any justification whatsoever.
I won't even bother to discuss ow come all those dumb German companies are unable to analyze the way Slashdot user 1787294 can.
But you write a very statist "Companies need to be given a boost to demonstrate or encourage such a system" without explaining WHY.
Please explain.
