Submission + - MS dirty tricks archive trickles back to life

networkBoy writes: The register is carrying a blurb about the dirty tricks of microsoft archive going off-line, and being pulled from archive.org. It appears that several individuals have the pieces to the puzzle and are looking for hosting sources. Maybe the /. community can help here? http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/02/21/microsoft_ archive_not_lost/

The 3,000 document archive from the Comes antitrust trial, which disappeared from the web abruptly when Microsoft settled the case last week, is beginning to trickle back into view. A week ago the site was placed under password protection, Microsoft withdrew its own account of events, and so-called internet "archive" archive.org apparently also pulled its mirror.

As someone who drank the 360 kool-aid (and more importantly, the live arcade kool-aid) I've been increasingly annoyed with the complete lack of new content. Last thing we got was Uno, around E3; there was a drought before then and a drought since then with all these games promised, but not delivered, delayed time and time again. (SF2 was supposed to hit around March, originally.)

One thing the 360 regulars have been asking for are real, solid release dates. After the debacle with the Prey demo being delayed with no word from HQ because as MajorNelson noted, "release dates are bad," since slips mean trouble... I'm surprised we're getting actual numbers. One a week is great pacing, too; you can plan which ones you want and when you can expect to pick them up. Assuming they stick to the schedule.

Hats off to MS here. They've fumbled around a lot, but now they've got a good plan in place and are communicating clearly. And about time.

Now, if we could only get some retail releases that aren't shootdrivballing games with 2stick+2trigger control schemes...

Pi is exactly equal to 3!

My brother is a scientist. I had just gotten a new phone, so he didn't have the number, and I texted him to say "Pi is exactly 3". He send back several long messages explaining why this wasn't true, as far as he knew to a complete stranger. So either scientists are incredibly helpful people or they have way too much time on their hands...

running OS X on x86 hardware can benefit you thusly: killer OS, inexpensive hardware.
On the other hand, there is no benefit at all (none, zero) to running any version of Windows on an Apple chip. Windows would be equally as bad running on an expensive G5 as it would on any other chip.
This is like asking "Would people buy a Jaguar designed and built in Detroit even though they remain as expensive as ever?". The answer is no, not many will, and fewer will like it.
