Journal bmetzler's Journal: America - Our Great Country 50
Today most American's will be remembering the tragedy that happened 2 years ago. We didn't deserve this tragedy but it happened because there are people in the world today that hate us for who we are. They hate our freedoms, our civil liberties, and our justice.
Our response to the tragedy which showed how great America was, did not come out of the tragedy itself. The response was a direct result of many decisions that had been made over the previous year. Had those decisions been made differently, we may very well have had a response to this tragedy that we would have all had to been ashamed of.
The first decision I am proud of is the decision that the Supreme Court made that the next president should be elected based on the votes of the American people and the Electoral College. The second decision I am proud of is the choice that President Bush made for Attorney General. Ashcroft is a wonderful man for the job, and has been unrelenting in his work to protect our civil liberties.
When I see what has been done in the last 2 years to continue to protect our freedoms, civil liberties, and human rights around the world, it brings tears to my eyes. President Bush will be remembered as a wonderful president for his direction for this country for years to come. And that makes me proud to be an American.
