Are you aware that natural language processing has been the holy grail for linguistics and AI? Do you know how hard it is (from bitter experience in my case) to design a rule-based system that can parse and generate sentences that are correct in the grammar sense?

Have you just blithely moved goalposts? What if you're like the observers of Galileo's canonball drop experiment who walked away still believing heavier objects fall faster than lighter ones because look! the bridges that the Romans built using that theory are still standing!?

What if NLP is AI-complete?

Is natural language, like nature, complete in a mathematical sense, whereas math itself, as long as it strives for consistency, will remain incomplete?

In short, to understand nature, will you have to give up the consistency you've developed quite the mood affiliation for?

Can you provide explicit examples? What if your idea of nonsense adverbs and excessive em dashes is a personal idiosyncracy?

What about the story making the rounds of the news shows yesterday that McDonald's and Pizza Hut are cutting prices? Which do you think will influence voters more?

Can I clarify that I was trying to point out that making killing easier has reduced homicide statistics (however trustworthy those are), contrary to your original bland blanket assertion? In other words why cherry-pick away exceptions?

How repugnant are your "the end justifies the means" tactics against smoking to this non-smoker?

Did you take the lazy, violent way out, rather than more effectively get at the individual root causes of the desire to smoke?

What if you got people to respond to tobacco ads the way I, a vegetarian, respond to the constant barrage of meat ads I am subjected to?

What if a lot of smokers were like my Mom, who didn't inhale, and remains cancer free in her 90s?

What if smoking was just a stupid, fickle social fad and you could have had better success pointing out the silliness of fads and getting people to challenge unhealthy group behaviors? What if there are plenty of other bad behaviors we continue today (overeating, anyone?) for silly social fad reasons, and which have mortality consequences, but which you ignore because you judt want to belong and not stick out so you just reinforce society's fickle arbitrary fads (smoke! Don't smoke!) to signal to the group that you belong?

Why do you think I'm posting?

Why are you against freedoms I want to exercise, like drug taking, camping anywhere on public land, etc.? What can I do to convince you that I should not be your target? Why is being a nonviolent noncooperator so threatening to you?
