Journal blinder's Journal: Part of the Problem 4

I know this is probably just semantics, in that in the modern world, words mean absolutely nothing... but I think I found part of the problem with /.

In searching sourceforge, i found this as the description for the slashcode project:

Slash is a database-driven web application server, using Perl, Apache and mySQL

Um, no. This is NOT an application server. It is a web application. Sheesh, this simple ignorance of what an application server *is* just maybe a real indication of who/what we have to deal with here.

An application server is a program/system that provides developers a platform to develop applications while providing services such as database connectivity, thread/resource pooling, performance analysis and logging (among others).

So, is there anyone who could possibly argue that slashcode *is* an application server????

Okay, I know. Who cares.
