I know this is probably just semantics, in that in the modern world, words mean absolutely nothing... but I think I found part of the problem with
In searching sourceforge, i found this as the description for the slashcode project:
Slash is a database-driven web application server, using Perl, Apache and mySQL
Um, no. This is NOT an application server. It is a web application. Sheesh, this simple ignorance of what an application server *is* just maybe a real indication of who/what we have to deal with here.
An application server is a program/system that provides developers a platform to develop applications while providing services such as database connectivity, thread/resource pooling, performance analysis and logging (among others).
So, is there anyone who could possibly argue that slashcode *is* an application server????
