Journal blinder's Journal: Thy Deed Is Done 17
i just got out of the settlement. it took 45 minutes! 45 minutes to make my house someone else's.
they seem like a very nice couple. first house, just moved from the uk seven months ago. they are very very excited. they are moving in on saturday. i left them a sofa and a futon. they were very thankful.
i liked them.
so, i am no longer a home owner. actually, i no longer own a house in baltimore. all of my ties are now officially cut and signed in triplicate, notarized and filed with the county courts.
i feel good. i feel a huge burdon has finally gone away. i can now put all my focus and attention on home, in that i no longer have this *thing* 400 miles away that i need to do something about.
so, as i sit in this starbucks and write this journal, i am thankful that this task is done. how appropriate that this should happen two days before thanksgiving.

"Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" was a cover. Nina Simone recorded it before the Animals... Now, "Don't Bring Me Down", "We Gotta Get Out of This Place" and "It's My Life". That's the stuff!
Who remembers pre-"Buster Pointdexter" David Johansen doing these as a medley? Back when MTV was new, and needed lots of material to fill those long hours, a live version of this was in regular rotation. I remember it as being really good.

Clearly, you are happier now... Put on Bruce Springstein's 'Hungry Heart', turn it up, and head home. You are needed somewhere, and that's the best place to be.
For myself... Home is where I feel most welcome. Many times, that is not the place that you provide yourself, but the place that is "built" by someone who wants you to be there.
