Journal blinder's Journal: And I Run 16
its been nearly a week now of this new schedule of mine. get up earlier, then stretch... then dress in running attire... then go outside and run for 3-4 miles. wow... not as easy as i just made it sound. i used to do my running in the evenings, and because my evenings are now more full - i needed to change things up because i simply wasn't getting my running in.
i wasn't getting terribly upset or discouraged over not running... well, a little discouraged, with myself... i just did what i have to do. i feel better when i run... so now i make time to do so. i think this will work out for me. yeah... it has other positive effects, such as going to bed earlier. no more 2am nights for me. i was up a little late last night... about 12:30 but lately its been to bed by 11 or 11:30. i'm aiming to get to bed by no later than 10:30... 11 if i have to push it. the *only* reason i was up till after midnight last night was the SG was needing some attention and i needed to hear noise coming from the marshall.
speaking of which, i would like to say that the boss GE7 7 Band EQ Pedal is teh b0mb0rz. really. a graphic eq really is a nice way to shape guitar tone. you don't need all the tweak-ability of a parametric eq for something as confined (frequency range wise) as guitar. so... if you play the git-fiddle and want a nice way to shape your tone... play with one of these.
notice i said "shape" and not "change?" yeah... so many people have it in their heads that you can *change* tone with an eq... which is why people have such strange notions of eq settings. its bothersome. eq's are to be used in small doses. i pains me to see huge radical settings on an eq... especially with frequency gains. gah!!!! you do know that when you add gain to a frequency you are adding more to the over all gain structure of the sound as well (thus bringing up the noise floor). so... the trick with eq is... small moves. and ALWAYS (well, not always) start with reduction of a frequency first... in small portions. i've learned this lesson the hard way. i'm *STILL* learning it. like... one thing i have recently learned is... 1k-4k. here is where it is best to add a bit of gain... or if too "present" back off... because the human ear is most sensitive to this frequency range. interesting... i have recently (as in a few days ago) started applying this... and well... i won't say "world of difference" but it is helping significantly.
um... okay... so i started out talking about running and ended up ranting about equalization. errr... i guess this is what you get for running 3 miles before you've had breakfast... oooh... and blinder brings it around full circle! nice move... dork.

Keep up the good work. I've started to get back into running also. I seem to be on an every-other-day schedule. Sometimes it is in the morning, sometimes in the evening. I know I'll do better if I try to stick to one schedule, but it's really hard with school/work/family. I love the way it makes me feel though.
I noticed some people talking about pain. I've noticed when I haven't run for a long time, it does hurt when I start, but after just a week for
