This is complete and utter nonsense. It is one of the wrongest things I've ever read on the internet, and that's saying something.
For every trade there is are buyers and a sellers. Nothing needs to be cleared off chain and no purchasing on the market ever needs to happen. Withdrawals and deposits may slow, but this has nothing to do with trading.

Uber's objective now has only to be to stay in the market long enough that they can get rid of their biggest cost: drivers.

If they can keep the show running until the self driving car becomes commonplace they'll have it made. In the meantime it doesn't matter if their current drivers are making money or not, so long as there are new people willing to sign up to replace those who have become disenchanted with the system/ rate of pay.

We had one of these at a bar I frequent. It didn't last long as it was prone to breaking down and surprisingly difficult to use.
In theory it is a great idea, but many people don't know how to properly pour a beer. This would often result in a very foamy pour and unhappy customers. I don't think it lasted six months of actual use.
