In honor of our many Slashdot friends with digestive issues, respect for the way she moves her bowels, and in recognition of her size and the way my breasts react to her, I am hereby renaming the Suckbus. She shall henceforth be known as Squirt.

  • I am honored to be one of the 'digestive problem friends' you nicknamed this baby for. *sniff*

    Now if you'll excuse me... I have to talk to a man about a wallaby (can you guess what movie this is from? And did you realize it was the 'aussie' way of saying "I need to take a dump"?).
  • 'Squirt' is too obvious a nickname for a newborn. 'Suckubus' is much more classy!

  • Congratulations to Bethanie and Family. I just skimmed your last JE and am pleased to hear that all went well. Two things:

    1)I must confess that I chuckled at this from your previous JE:

    I explained that Baby#2 wasn't going to come out of my vagina, like we had planned, but that she would still get to be with me in the hospital and do lots of fun, special things.

    It takes a special person to discuss things either coming out of or into your vagina with a small child. Bravo.

    • Ha! When we explained to Danny that his sister Sophia might come out of mommy vaginally he screamed, "BUT MOM YOU WHIZ FROM THERE!"

      So she had another C Section.
    • A doula is essentially an extra pair of hands, who helps with the whole birthing caring cycle for mommy and baby. Linkage [charm.net].
    • "Doula" comes from the Greek word for "woman's servant." She's more than a nanny but not usually a registered nurse and can handle labor and delivery support, homecoming, older children, lactation issues, and a host of other logistics that seem to surround new babies. I actually have a client who runs a very successful doula service or agency, so I got the lowdown on this from her.

    • It takes a special person to discuss things either coming out of or into your vagina with a small child.

      Not really -- just a mother. It's part of the job.
