At least it is clearly bullshit. The "open source" tag was not important decades ago. "Open source" is a decade old (as it was introduced to replace "free software" by OSI), and in the 80s and 90s nobody (in business) paid any notice to open source.
And oddly enough, it seems like the guy is pro-open source from his blog. I guess it is the FP "journalist" misquoted him to satisify his own prejudices.

A back-up is all OK, but the people behind TPB (well I suppose it's them, because they use the same servers as TPB) is working on a decentralized replacement for TPB called openbittorrent.com and torrage.com. This decentralized version will be almost impossible to take out both legally and technically, and according to the ideology behind TPB it will be more democratic.

I thought everybody here knew by now. The guys behind the Pirate Bay sold their domain name and software because it was outdated. The money they received is going to pay for new initatives. Currently they are working on openbittorrent.com and torrage.com as a combined decentralized model. Read more about it here. AFAIK you can replace "thepiratebay.com" with "openbittorrent.com" in all torrents currently available on thepiratebay.

Yeah, it won't go well in European markets without a camera. Even business customers expect a camera on their phone these days. No EDGE or 3G is also serious flaw.

Like somebody else said: it's a PDA with some phone features.

I recommended people interested in an open source phone to ask Nokia when they will have one ready. Linux isn't made for mobile phones, Symbian is, and Symbian will be released as open source soon. If(when) I can hack the Symbian software on my E65 I'll have a top notch smartphone. Without camera, EDGE and 3G, the Neo Freerunner will never be a top notch smartphone.
