The word "they" is already taken, it refers to more than one person and is appropriate only when applied to genuine schizophrenics, which is a much more problematic condition than gender dysphoria.

They does not mean "dual".

Yes, there's a difference. Plural is two coins, a dime and a penny. Dual is two sides of one coin, heads and tails.

It's inappropriate to use a plural word in reference to a dual condition.

We should allow others to define themselves, but we don't have to put up with B.S.
