Are these continued announcements of huge support from large OEMs an indication of a new era?"

It's indeed a bit like P2P but then at the IP nodes level: normal P2P doesn't reduce traffic, it shares it amongst peers. I believe he wants to get rid of the ISP altogether. The problem, obiously, is how to finance it all and enforce people to store others' data.

APC reader Jackie Murphy reported the problem: 'With Microsoft launching Vista along with their Defender software to protect users from viruses and spyware, it seems therefore to be an oxymoron that they have started to putting paid changing banner advertisements for malware, on the popular MSN groups servers.'"
