Journal Journal: Google Calendar and SMS Tricks

I recently started playing with google calendar in more detail, and found that it does some pretty cool things. The option to send you an SMS reminder for appointments is very cool. The way it allows you to add "quick events" by parsing a string something like "Movies on 17 Feb at 9pm" is also quite cool. The coolest one though has to be this:

I was seriously excited about this one. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work for me. In fact my SMS reminders don't come from the number in the article. And sending a message to either short SMS code doesn't do anything. bleh!

Journal Journal: Open Sourcing plugins for Proprietary software

Well, I decided to release a plugin for the Neverwinter Nights 2 toolset. Called YATT (or Yet Another Terrain Tool) it allows NWN2 builders to import heightmaps (along with other bits and pieces) into the toolset. Deciding how to release the source code was a bit of a head scratcher. I wanted to release it, and I wanted it to be under some sort of open source license, but what was the most appropriate took a bit of reading. Many seem to discourage linking to proprietary libraries (understandable) but in the case linking to the NWN2 Toolset libraries is needed. In the end I went for a modified version of the GPL, which I hope works for this and makes some sense...

In any case, enough rambling, if you have NWN2 and want to mess with YATT, you can find it here.
