If we aren't going to have more elections?
I contracted for a large company in Australia and there were no seats with my team mates. When I repeatedly brought this up they kept saying, yes we only have seats for 80% of people due to work from home polices. But at least on this floor, there was never anything available.
It sort of blew my mind that they would pay my day rate yet.. how can I work without a desk?
Company polices have a big disconnect from reality.
For a company that constantly announces AGI is in sight and the end of the worlds economy as we know it. They have absolutely no focus.
Who cares about this? Why do they bother with GPTs, why do they bother with video generation, something many other do already.
These are all things that the all mighty AGI could just do better anyhow, right?
Oh, you are forcing us to make something... so pay more and more.
Well dont do it then? No they wont do that either, because of course this is nonsense logic. The games industry got captured by late stage capitalism. The only thing that matters is more money every year. It doesnt matter how much they make, its not enough. RDR2 sold over 60 million copies, this made rockstar choke so bad they dropped the online component like it was cancer.
The only bright side is that the indie game scene has renewed the old games market where you can find deep, fun, interesting games without microtransations.
But people need to just let go of the rest, at least, don't pretend its the same market. Its just about getting you to spend $2k on a game you used to buy for $60.
"he says that just $1 billion could fund 100 professorships or permanently cover tuition for 100 students"
What the fuck? You are spending 10 million per degree at Harvard these days.
Maybe its a typo. 100 professorships is maybe reasonable. 100k x 100 x 10 years.
Does it seem like this guy is consulting with lawyers?
Its already got a name, late stage capitalism
Because he wasn't white.
Anything is possibly true. So its not a great argument for allowing people to spread hysterical guesses to half the planet.
Whats more strange is understanding how a company with revenue of 400M and are apparently on track to double that this year can only be worth 1bn
You could buy out the company and make your money back in 18 months *shrugs*.
When did Nixon ever do that?
Of course. This is a larger problem but the swatter part is unique to this case.
Usually the police are shooting people because of mistaken reports of threats not imaginary (*insert laugh or cry*)
Its not the aiming of the officer that I think is subpar
Who were they protecting?
"When police arrived, they shot and killed 28-year-old Andrew Finch after he exited the residence and reached toward his waistband."
It sounds like from the reporting that they were defending themselves. Even if he had a gun, there was no hostages there.
This is why I ask why police can shoot at someone first when generally the military have to be fired at first.

Surely the police should try their own citizens with more caution than non citizens (not that this really should matter but no country can justify treating their own citizens worse than non citizens)
Never tell people how to do things. Tell them WHAT to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity. -- Gen. George S. Patton, Jr.
