Comment Work Cameras (Score 1) 17

So, at work they have a break area where you can self checkout your cokes and chips and such. But recently they added a lot of cameras, that do face detection, and who knows what else. Not too sure how I feel about that. Also, at airports, they are starting to take your photo at TSA when you board. I should have refused, but didn't really think about the implications of the government having a worldwide face database I think we should have the right to not be monitored and cataloged when we buy items and travel?

Comment Crazy people use AI too (Score 1) 208

Not too sure you can blame AI on this one, crazy people exist and maybe AI just brings it out because they have less filter. But that said being related to a crazy AI is god person might be a bit unsettling and who knows what the AI would tell them to do and they would carry it out without question

So, I could use more information on a quantum magnetic sensor. I assume it's better than a magnetometer, which really are sensitive to electronic noise to the point you want them a few inches away from everything. I would imagine magnetic jamming could occur, in fact, would EMI cause it issues? Sounds too good to be true

Comment IT with AI? (Score 3, Interesting) 29

I think it's interesting that they want IT people with AI experience, not engineers or data science people. AI is kind of it's own thing, it's not really programming, as python does a lot for you. I'm not sure if they are wrangling proprietary datasets, or just throwing a LLM chatbot into their web interface, and I doubt the people hiring for AI really know what they want, just that it's the new thing and might be beneficial

Comment How do emails cost money? (Score 1) 50

I mean, you can say the hosting costs money I suppose, but dont you need the hosting anyway as I'm sure it's not just used for emails right? Sounds like a lot of excuses for repeatedly downgrading let's encrypt. Give us lifetime keys and you wont have to send out expiration emails, instead of making the keys last a week or whatever they are slowly doing
