Comment Reasons why Satoshi May be Elon Musk (Score 2) 99
Here's the argument:
1. Elon is bipolar. Not in the sense of bipolar "I" (people who need lithium) but in the sense of bipolar "II". Bipolar people are hypercreative because they are hypermotivated (the downside being that they get depressed after a creative episode.) Elon even admitted that he is bipolar II (on twitter.) The creativity of bipolar people is not accessible to normal people. I think people would agree that Bitcoin is truly something special, and that is what motivates Elon, working on something which is revolutionary.
2. If you compare the abstracts for the Hyperloop paper to the abstract for the Bitcoin paper, you can see that they could have been written by the same person. The fact that one is about physics and the other about digital cash is not a stumbling block, because Elon cares about being revolutionary, not the details, and he's so smart and knowledgeable that it doesn't matter.
3. Everybody knows that Elon is a great software developer. He could have written the bitcoin code, which has never been hacked.
4. Elon (because he's hypercreative) is able to amass knowledge from reading books and articles at many times the speed of normal people. He therefore could have amassed the necessary knowledge of the field of digital cash in order to solve a long-standing problem (the double spending problem.)
5. Elon founded PayPal but he felt that PayPal was half measures (since his intention was to solve a world-class problem.) When he left PayPal he likely signed a non-compete agreement, which would explain why he had to remain anonymous.
6. Elon doesn't care about money. We know this because when he Tesla was almost bound to fail in 2008 he laid it all on the line. This would explain why Satoshi never spent the bitcoins he mined.
7. Elon gives out cryptocurrencies regularly, but he has been extremely quiet about cryptocurrencies. Having followed Elon for years I find this almost miraculous.
