Neither of these companies, or for that matter, Google, have the customers best interest at heart.
When MS$ dominated with their Windows monopoly, they intentionally put PC database companies out of business either by making their product incompatible with theirs, or difficult to make things work on their product. When that did not work, they would buy them out and shut them down, in the first place R:base, and in the second, FoxPro.
Apple had a decent product with the IMac. A nice clean (from the user standpoint) OS, that was stable. A built in external backup system, time machine, something MS$ STILL does not have today with Win 10 or Win whatever. Amazing that after so many years in business MS can still not provide that. I mean, who would really want to backup the important material on your computer? Who could possibly want that?
Additionally a third party vendor, Shirt Pocket makes a wonderful product for the IMac called SuperDuper that makes full BOOTABLE backups for the Mac, so if your drive fails, no problem, just re boot with the external drive.
There is nothing I know of like that available for MS Windows.
Apples wonderful contribution to the world was the IPhone with no removable battery and the IPad with same, making their products instantly obsolete out of the box. This fun and very productive (from the manufacturers standpoint) feature, means, as soon as the battery dies, you get to buy another device. Thank you Apple. This "feature" has been emulated, shamelessly, by all other phone manufacturers, for your own good.
I am looking for a full featured linux phone with a removable battery.
There are no players with clean hands here... only variations in value and cost, and the only things that save the small players is the competition between the monsters.
On the other hand: When the elephants fight, the grass gets crushed.
On that happy note, be well, and best wishes to all.
