I am not going to buy any EV car unless its price is less than 15K
I live up north and EV will drain its power keeping battery worm in Winter, so as long as temperature below zero it will waste charge just to keep itself warm regardless of standing in parking lot.
I am not going to keep EV inside of my garage to save its charge in the winter time, I have no any special chemical fire extinguishers at home. Professional fire fighters are not capable to put out the fire of EV cars till it burns down completely. Keeping fully charge EV inside house is like sleeping on barrel full of gun powder.
I am not going to waste my time on keeping it fully charged at any moment in time. I fuel my car once per 2 weeks and if it is low on gas it takes me 5 minutes to refuel it again and go. My son leaves me empty tank without warning me and it is not a problem to me to refuel it and go. You are not going to convinience me that charging EV overnight is convenient, I need my car ready now not tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.
If my car is half tank full I can easily go anywhere. If your EV is half battery full you have to stay home till it is fully charged
I can easily go to camping and spend there several days without being trapped with that EV product in the forrest.
I don't oppose EVs and I am happy that Mask makes so great progress in that space, but I personally don't need it and I am not going to spend my money on EV. I expect that our liberals would try to ban gas cars quite soon, so I purchased both of my cars into ownership, so **** them!

Quite is not safe, I would rather drive noisy car, so all pedestrians would be aware of me on the road and parking lot.
Charging is slow, so EV is not 100% ready and available as gasoline car.
It slowly looses its charge, so if you drive your car irregularly, like once a week then your car must be plugged all the time and drain your electricity bill
If you are Uber or taxi driver your are going to work half day only

Basically what I say is already happening. The consolidation of farms into mega corps is already under way and this process would only accelerate in the nearest future. John Deer denies self repair now and the next step would be to deny selling equipment providing end to end farm automation to small farmers.

Comment Our future is quite grim ... (Score 1) 107

I am naive pro free market person, but the truth is that automation and robotization likes proper setup.
1. Transforming farm or plot of land to be used by robots is easier than making generic robot capable to deal with any situation at the farm.
2. If I develop robotic farm as a complex of specially design facilities, plots of land and machines so it scales. Saying scaling I mean situation when robots build new farms automatically with minimal human participation and the entire farm is operated by robots, so we manage infinite number of farms from cloud. What is the point to sell this technology to farmers, when I can drive them out of business with low prices and then buy all their land?
3. Usage of robots for generic purposes, I means in places where we have human operated cars and completely robotic cars creates unavoidable risks to humans, so they must be insured. Ask any insurance company if they would like to insure robot which uses public roads and it was altered by some hacker. I am not sure that they would take risks of John Deer itself and I am absolutely sure they would never talk to any farmer who terminated service agreement and warranty from John Deer.
4. Most like the same would happen to a regular cars. All robotic cars would belong to some mega corp and we are not going to own them, we would rent them. Cars would go regularly for service themselves. They would be insured by that mega corp as well.
5. The insurance cost for regular manually operated cars would sky rocket, plus the fact that all robotic cars would belong to one mega corp all of them would report every minor incident by human drivers to police, so they would price out manual drivers out of the roads.

Comment Re:It's about time the national security question (Score -1, Troll) 107

OK. Lets say John Deer releases 100% automated tractor capable to plow without driver or remote operator, so farmer buys and makes code alterations, so that tractor like in Terminator series goes itself to highway and start to destroy cars and kill people. Who is going to pay insurance for that? Farmer or John Deer? I am sure that John Deer will tell in court that farmer failed to properly update software in time and John Der does take any responsibility for the rogue tractor having altered software. The problem I am trying to raise here, that I am not sure that farmers would be ever capable to cover insurance risks related to fully robotic machinery and I am not sure that farmers would ever own fully robotic machinery at all. We have to expect creation of mega corps owning fully automated farms and they would have size of the state of Texas or similar. So all these discussions and debates about farmers right to repair their tractors and especially "national security" concerns are so lame.

Lets be honest majority of businesses created in the recent 20 years make no profit, they are just zombies existing on venture capital investments. It is too expensive, it is more efficient to let people work on their own stuff 3 out of 7 days a week and then harvest their work results via acquisitions.
4 or 5 days work week is rhetorical, since it the initial salary overpay for less working hours would be compensated by inflation anyway within 3-5 years range.

The mobile market is saturated completely, probably I am not the right user of mobile phone, but I did not install any new app for last 3-5 years, so the mobile market is not about app stores and their respective monopolistic owners Google and Apple, but about potential security vulnerabilities and risks to brick the entire ecosystem of mobile phones, so my point is that having 3d player on the market would have significantly reduced security risks, but unfortunately Windows Phone is killed, by Microsoft chasing for star level popularity. I thought about buying Windows Phone while my phone was quite new, but Microsoft managed to kill its Phone devision before it was time for me to replace my phone with something new. It is sad. Of course I am trolling, but It does not matter how we call economical system where 99.99% of the human population owns 0.01% of the economy, it is abnormal situation. Yes, communism is ultra left liberal idea:
borderless states, full freedom of movement anyone can go anywhere
no private property for anything, everything is shared, I can take your trousers in the morning and put them on if I need them
no inheritance of any kind, I cannot hand over any property to my family members
no family as a social institute, everyone can sleep with everyone, no social responsibilities
no parenthood, all kids belong to the state, I cannot raise my kids in the values I like, I cannot have control over my kids
Yes, soviet communism is not communism at all. Communism existed in Russia for several years and then Stalin eliminated original communists who made Soviet Revolution in 1917 and reworked everything back into conservative Russian orthodoxy ideas, that is why he is so hated by liberals, he stole Russian revolution from them
He reestablished family institution
He mandated people to raise their kids and pay taxes for having no kids.
He prohibited communists to divorce, they lost party membership if they divorced. It is the same as in Russian Orthodox church. Priest cannot divorse.
He reestablished private property for personal belongings, but he left government property businesses
etc
In general I believe in the free market, I completely understand that it is as extreme idea as the opposite communistic economy, but I believe that only private property and possibility to get something into ownership drives people productivity. Sense of private property is illusion, but it makes people work hard. :-)
