Comment better than Apple silicon (Score 1) 23

These are the only Intel architecture chips that can compete with Apple Silicon on performance / watt, but Intel is going to cancel them !?! That makes a lot of sense...we wouldn't want to risk the dominance of arm architecture in the future... The big story is actually that Intel was able to create a cpu with an amd64 architecture that can compete on perf/watt with amd architecture cpus. For the longest time we thought that was just not possible because of legacy aspects of the architecture necessary for backward compatibility. Computer architecture folks please educate the rest of us...

Comment Exactly the wrong approach (Score 1) 115

The right approach should be absolutely no use/exposure to AI until at least 16 years old. The kids MUST develop the native capabilities to read, remember, process, write, calculate, etc. without assistance BEFORE they start using the assistance, BECAUSE they will NEVER develop those capabilities if they are given the crutch prior to their development. This is just common sense.

Comment FUD (Score 2, Insightful) 265

This is such a transparent FUD article. "X increased by 35%!" is only significant if the X was significant in scale in the first place, which in this case may very well not have been. US scientists are not fleeing abroad in any significant numbers..get over yourself. We'd see these sky's falling! articles when biological research would be affected by anti-abortion legislation, too. For 100+ years our government has been virtually hijacked by various mercantile interests of different kinds at different times (oil, bankers, railroad/steel, military/weapons/intelligence, pharma, media, etc.). It's high time they got yanked away from the levers of power and their access to and misuse of our taxpayer money cut off. They are kicking and screaming and propagandizing hard to get the plebs/pawns to help them oust the orange usurper. Don't fall for it.

Comment OpenAI is the new tool of the deep state (Score 1) 30

OpenAI is the new tool of the deep state. They allowed it to be privatized and now they are the overloads. Google was their first big one, then Facebook, then Twitter. Now that they lost Twitter to Elon, they are planning to take back the Matrix with AI. First that will be via a new social network, but later as AI gets embedded in everything, the social network won't matter any more. They'll be able to frame and shape reality and nudge everyone's decisions however they like. It's not looking good people... the future is grim under the Western deep state overlords. It's going to be a CCP style totalitarian state in the West. And their goal is to depopulate the planet to 500 million people. It's worse than any dystopian novel/film.

Comment Strawman argument (Score 0) 94

That's a total strawman. The issue is not do phone bans in school result in "getting higher grades or having better mental wellbeing", it's do the students enjoy school and each other more. Can they pay more attention in class. Can they appreciate their present more. They're asking the wrong questions and looking for the wrong metrics. (as usual)

Queue money to get scientists to confuse the cause of post-2020 increases in pathologies and all-cause-mortality. This is always the game plan. Pay for studies to muddy the waters on whatever it may be: tobacco, artificial food dyes, vaccines, statins, climate change, etc.. In this case they are so transparently desperate to obscure the impact of mRNA jabs on our health they'll use anything they can find that we might accept as having been increasing since 2020 which "could explain the rising curves in [bad stuff] since then". Nice try guys, we're not buying what you're selling!

Comment sandboxes (Score 0) 27

Who is allowing contract developers to have access to their repos from non-controlled endpoints? Get some VDI sandboxes that can only access blessed resources through http proxies with tls inspection mitm. This way you can limit the VDI instances to just your own repos and prevent PUT/POST/PATCH etc to sites that could allow exfiltration. Use proper DNS that will detect and block DNS exfil and you should be in good shape. Devs would have to code visual QR code type of tooling to exfil data from that type of environment which is not a super trivial task and you could detect it if you have a remote access broker that records sessions and/or takes screenshots of the sessions periodically. Securing your source code while allowing the use of contract or offshore devs is totally doable.

Comment Re:Not likely (Score 1) 177

BS. if you only rarely charge your battery over 80%, it will last and you'll only lose like 30% of the range after 12-15 years. So your 'old' 250 mile range at 80% vehicle will be down to a 'mere' 175 miles which is still perfectly adequate and probably not enough of a loss to make one spend 10k on a new battery pack.
