I'm curious where thise sentiment comes from. I understand the comment below about having too much visual clutter on the screen, but for me the current slashdot is a visual nightmare. The line height is too small, the margins are nonexistant and there's a lack of white space in general - the readbility on slashdot IMO is passable at best. any of the designs aren't making large changes to the layout and presentation of slashdot - I agree that while not exactly the most asthetically pleasing is quite accessible and usable. You yourself say the current design is already "intuitive" - I think that right there is why people are sticking with less drastic approaches. -Xy

Homeland Security Uncovers Critical Flaw in X11 517

Amy's Robot writes "An open-source security audit program funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has flagged a critical vulnerability in the X Window System (X11) which is used in Unix and Linux systems. A missing parentheses in a bit of code is to blame. The error can grant a user root access, and was discovered using an automated code-scanning tool." While serious, the flaw has already been corrected.
