Submission + - South Park's Season Premier Sets Off Everyone's Amazon Echo (maxim.com)

SonicSpike writes: It's hard to believe that Trey Parker and Matt Stone didn't know exactly what they were doing with Wednesday night's season premiere of South Park.

This episode marked the beginning of the show's 21st season and as usual, South Park took on current issues like tiki torch-wielding white supremacists and... home digital assistants.

The latter meant lots of gags in which Cartman and other characters addressed Amazon Echo's Alexa and Google Home as well. And that ended up being a problem for viewers who own those devices.

South Park writers absolutely knew their lines would do this and probably had a hilarious time coming up with funny commands for the home assistants.

I don't know what champing is, but I agree with all of your points. We went to see a kids movie recently, and this very heavy person sat in front of us, who had the most outrageous body odor I have ever smelled. I felt like Agent Smith in The Matrix: "It's the smell, if there is such a thing. I feel saturated by it. I can taste your stink. And every time I do I feel I have somehow been infected by it. It's repulsive, isn't it? I must get out of here."

Damn it was terrible. It got in my nose and I could smell it when I got home still. When it comes to movies, I'm like I'm the most interesting man in the world. I don't often watch movies, but when I do, I prefer to do it at home.

Low voltage is not going to happen, if only because the costs for copper wire would be astronomical. If you take your standard 1500w electrical outlet, at 120v it only needs #14 gauge wire to run 54 feet @1800watts because it's only 15 amps. If you take that down to 24V, you need #2 gauge wire to run the same distance, and you are only getting 1200watts, at 50 amps! #14 wire is about $0.17 per foot, where as #2 wire is (from what I could find) about $7.50 per foot.

The specific one I have came from a factory called CXM. But I think this market is changing really fast. A similar one to mine is this one here: http://www.banggood.com/Wh-TG-.... It has twice the battery capacity of mine which would be helpful. Mine has taken a serious beating and is still working good aside from the plastic shell which has a few cracks. Just cosmetic though. I let anyone try it so it gets crashed a lot.

There are other ones that have bluetooth connectivity to your smartphone so you can see capacity and stuff. The genuine solowheel ones are really nice but are so expensive and I've never tried one.

Been having fun with a solowheel clone you can get on bangood and aliexpress for about $400 that is just one wheel. Have taken it camping and ran it on gravel, packed dirt, grass etc and it does a pretty good job. Super fun at campsites particularly. Even last summer in BC I used it to haul stuff to and from the car to the beach. It's infinitely more useful than a Segway since it only weighs like 21 pounds. I used to ride it through downtown on my way to work but haven't felt like it lately since it attracts so much attention, where people stop you to ask all the questions like how fast does it go (12km/h), how far does it go (10km), how much did it cost etc.

Here's a video of when I first started learning it. I'm much more comfortable on it now, I can even pull my 2 kids in a wagon while riding it. https://ancillary-proxy.atarimworker.io?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3F...

I never really understand the comments, particularly on a tech site like this, such as 'why don't you just walk you lazy'... For one thing walking isn't that great of exercise anyway if you are in any kind of shape (ie. not round). Secondly, this thing is twice as fast as walking and effectively doubles your range of parking options etc, and it's actually fun.
