I am so incredibly hungry right now. Holy hell. I haven't eaten since 9pm last night, and I seriously am starting to think if I'm going to make it until Monday. Potato soup is my friend, but it hurts like hell to eat. Since I hate codeine, they gave me vicoden. Which doesn't really do all that much for pain, at least not with me.

Oddly enough, I feel mostly ok. It hurts like hell, but that's only secondary to starving.

  • Which doesn't really do all that much for pain, at least not with me.

    Vicodin (hydrocodone bitartate) is a narcotic. It's very, very powerful. One of the most powerful narcotic prescription drugs. It can be very, very addictive, so don't alter your dosage unless you doctor says so.

    They gave me Vicodin when I broke my arm, because codeine really does jack for me. Plus, codeine gives me an upset stomach, so I don't like it. So if they have to prescribe pain pills to me for some reason I always tell th
    • I'm just the opposite -- vicodin is what they gave me after my cesarean. Doesn't do much for me; didn't bother to finish the prescription they gave me.

      But codeine, now *that* makes me a little loopy -- and it's *awesome* for getting rid of a cough.

    • They gave it to me when they pulled my wisdom teeth. I was very underwhelmed. I had heard about people trying to score Vicodin for recreational purposes, so I thought it might be an amusing way to deal with the pain. It did absolutely nothing for me. Well, I guess it knocked the edge off the pain, but not noticeably better than ibuprofen.

          Lucky bastard. They gave it to me when I broke my jaw, and I gave up after the first day and took Ibuprofen 800mg (Motrin) because it worked better. I have to stick on the Tylenol family because all the others thin blood.

          I'm halfway down my dosage this morning... two pills crushed in apple sauce.
  • Not sure if this is a UK-centric thing, but over here after a tonsilectomy you are advised to eat ice-cream as it nubs the pain and its fiull of fat and sugar which are good for the recovery...

  • Give yourself another 24 hours and you'll no longer be "hungry" as your body starts to digest itself. This happened to me during a fast. It was cool.
