Self-driving cars are a lot more capital intensive, because Über would have to buy them, whereas they don't have to buy the human-driven cars they use at the moment.

Would they?

As you mentioned, right now, they don't have to pay for the cars. But if self-driving cars become popular, they could use the same business model.

Imagine I have a self-driving car. I have it drive me to work. I walk into the office, pull out my phone, log into Uber and say I'm available. Uber then sends me a notification that someone wants to go from A to B. I say, "OK," and send the car off to A. The person climbs in and I tell the car to go to B. They get out and I tell the car to come back to the office. My car makes me money while I also get paid to sit in a boring meeting. Life is good.

I have a gaming laptop with two USB-A and USB-C ports, and it's a constant struggle to connect all my devices simultaneously without needing a hub. I use the two USB-A ports for my mouse and wireless headset dongles, while a phone charging cable and portable monitor take up the USB-Cs. This setup stresses me out because there's no extra space to connect anything else without losing functionality.

That's entirely why they inventing docking stations.

IMHO, it's FUD.

Telo and Slate have gotten a fair amount of attention lately for their pledge to create small EV trucks. So before this gets out-of-hand, Ford is announcing that they, too, will be jumping on the bandwagon and creating a small inexpensive truck.

The goal, like any FUD, is to freeze the market. "Gosh, I'd love a small truck. But I've never heard of Telo or Slate. Maybe I'll wait to see what Ford comes up with..." Ford just sits there saying, "Yeah, you don't want to buy from those weird no-name companies, you want to wait and see what we're doing. It'll be awesome!" and delays and delays until Telo and/or Slate go belly up. Then they drop the whole thing, saying, "See? Those guys went out of business. I guess there just isn't enough demand for small pick-up trucks..."
