if they ever give me an electrical convertible sports coupe that doesn't look stupid, I'm game.
Agreed!
If only we didn't live in the US, we could have this.
Turn on closed captioning, turn off the sound, and you can hit 2x/3x.
I believe that's subvocalization. Sublingual means under the tongue.
I can speed read up to about 1,500WPM, but as you say, it depends on what I'm reading, and what level of retention and comprehension I'm looking for...
I speed it up, turn off the sound, and turn on closed captioning (CC). Turns YouTube into a speed reading machine.
Some of their decisions were absolutely baffling, such as the lack of a proper factory sound system and infotainment screen. Bluetooth speakers jammed into the dash (yes, really, that was what Slate's designers came up with) and a phone holder are something you expect to see in a late 90s beater parked in front of Walmart, not a nearly $30k brand-new EV.
I dunno about that.
Here in the 21st Century. most people are listening to content on their phone. It may be music ripped from CDs, purchased, or streamed. They may be listening to podcasts or streamed "radio" stations.
I mean, about the only time I listen to the radio in my car is if I forget my phone. Navigation? Entertainment? Through the phone.
So, yeah, give me a bluetooth speaker and I'm pretty much set. Why do I need to pay for a Navigation system that I don't use? Why do I need to pay for a radio that I don't listen to?
So is it "Information Wants to Be Free" or "Information Wants to Be Free to Only Those I Agree With"
So am I devaluing by browsing the site?
Yes, but if the AI companies are scraping IA and not reddit, it has zero impact on Reddit besides Reddit being pissy.
They already sold it to google
To lose even more of their retirements
I'm not sure I understand.
From what I see, NASA gave them some money to come up with this. It didn't work. NASA didn't design it. NASA didn't build it. NASA didn't test it. They financed it. That was about it.
So why is it suddenly, "NASA sucks, man! They can't even send a satellite to the Moon. Where's the NASA of yesteryear?"
It makes me think of a launch that happened back in 2014. Fox News loudly proclaimed how awesome it was that private industry was taking over these NASA launches because now we'll see the power of the free market versus the bloated government.
Of course, then the rocket exploded on launch and suddenly Fox News was talking about how a NASA launch screwed up and the gubmint can't do nothin' right.
What's next? A Josie and the Pussycats movie?
Done. Though they didn't go into outer space. Maybe they were saving that for the sequel...
Personally, I would spend money to see a Thundarr the Barbarian movie...
