Generally, at least I think, forcing kids to memorize a bunch of things at a young age is better for them in the future. Even if they don't 100% understand why, once they move up to high school and have to start thinking (aka book reports, algebra, etc), they don't have to go back to using fingers or manually doing multiplications. Sometimes you get that "ah hah" moment when you realize you have all that information already in your noggin and can apply it.

Of course you also end up with kids who skip a grade or move to a different school it throws it all to wack. I got experience in that front.

People has been buying stuff like this for century's. Yea my mom could use the same yarn and put it together in about a day, but fashion is fashion. Think of it as a way to meet people. You start off with a conversation about it and go on to other small talk. Personally, as somone who is paranoid going outside now a days without some kind of recording device on myself makes this great way to have a body cam without it seeming intrusive.

That said, $5 of yarn is enough to make one your own. Its just a scarf with some stitching. I am good enough to make scarfs so I am thinking of making something similar for presents. The question is should I go with the same colors or make it goth.

Its really more of a cost issue than anything. Steam uses a custom WiFi 7 adaptor (or "router" as they call it) to avoid the issue of people having a sub standard WIFI hub. Considering at 6Ghz it can stream at 20Gbps, it should work just as well as a wired connection. With Foveated streaming it also should help with better rendering. Of course these are all "should" and no one has put their hands on the thing.

In reality it all comes down to price. There are wireless dongles you can get that work with DP ports but the chips are very expensive and short range. Also Steam doesn't have the decade of experience that Oculus had in camera tracking. That said I feel like this is the old Google vs I-phone back in the day. It looks like the Steam device has a port you can use to make custom devices and I am betting there might even be a way to make your own hand controller's latter. Like it or not, Oculus has been held back by being a toy and it looks like Steam is trying to make their device more flexible at the start.

The Zune was ahead of its time. Chippy was just an attempt to get grand parent's to learn how to open a file manager. Window's CE/mobile was designed on systems that ran under 200mhz and very little memory, but kept the "windows experience". Essentially, they were good ideas but Microsoft didn't want to go all in on the concept. Once they realized they would have to spend years or decades to improve it they cut their losses. Google is just the same, I am still amazed Android is as good as it is after owning the old 1.3 phone.

I just think everything lined up perfectly for the Xbox 360 and with Sony on the PS3.but the prices on the consoles are just to damn high now. Gone are the times where the game licenses can pay for the hardware. The problem now is they are both playing a game of chicken. I think Microsoft is trying to push the breaks to not scare its shareholders. Sony is just Sony so they are going over that cliff.

Honestly I have seen prices change when refreshing my browser. Besides Walmart and other big box stores did similar things in the day.

Nah. Its kind of like that stupid movie "Money Plane" You can bet on the outcomes of anything and the app takes a cut. Like an example, "How long will this streamer last till they crash?" or "What will be Diddy's sentence?" There are just to many board rich foals out there.

Its funny that my pharmacy doesn't even look at my ID anymore. They just swipe it in their system and hand it back. I mean, you could of at least LOOKED at the name to make sure its the same as the order.

What's worst is there is a nice 2D, signed, barcode on the back. You can 100% verify the ID is genuine using that. Except everyone just uses the magnetic strip. What makes it more depressing is there is a third stripe on the card that does contain a hash, but most readers only use the two. It makes me depressed of the tax dollars that go into such a thing, and yet don't even take advantage of it.

Though I guess its the same with anything in the states. It took an act of congress to force though chip based cards even though the rest of the world had them for 10 years and even the machines used in the US supported them.

Its simple. If one of the subscribers sued Discord saying that "I was underage at the time but you let me in anyway" there is no way Discord could prove they did their dill diligence. If they deleted the information, the plaintiffs could claim, even if there is a policy to do the deletion, that Discord didn't 100% verify. The plaintiffs have proof they were underage and Discord just has a policy. If they have the the photo ID, Discord can say this is what they got and if it isn't the plaintiffs ID then the suit goes away. IANAY so I am sure there are other arguments for the US system in there.

  I am not excusing Discord for the breach, its one thing for names and hashed passwords but the full image of the ID? Seriously, I am sure there is off the shelf programs that can mask information off the ID image. I bet they can even be run on the web app that takes the picture so even Discord doesn't have things like your ID number and home address. EVEN then, they should of done it on their end.

Heh. I went to Synology years ago because I just got tired of to many raid hiccups. To be fair, this was more because the web interfaces and notifications went very good. I just really needed a "beeping" and a light on the front that would tell me witch drive was bad. Even writing a script to switch on the right light on the external SAS enclosure I had was painful. Hell I even know you can mod the Synology software to work on off the shelf hardware but I just wanted a box I put in my closet and not worry about it.

That said, I bought mine in 2018.. If I knew I had to buy, "validated drives" I would of looked at someone else.

Don't forget inflation and the usual graft. Plus the fact that just going to the moon seems like a waste of money if we aren't going to build a base or do anything with it. Maybe if we sent a few rockets that landed base modules you could build a base or at least get power on the planet. Hell we could have the whole thing done with remote robots with the success with the mars rover. Though I guess practicality doesn't give you as much clout as putting a person on a ship.

As it was back in shit posting in 1920 classified ads or on MySpace, people want a platform to scream into the void.

And just as an aside, one of the most talked about VHS videos at my school was the "Faces of Death" series. With no internet or phones, we were trading bootlegged copies of these things not even knowing the original film had been out for 10 years and that it was fake. You can either forbid it and punish your kid or you can sit down and watch the video with him and say, "Wait, is that monkey brain a cauliflower." and try to replicate "monkey brains" in the kitchen.

Seriously, after seeing cauliflower in red jam, I suddenly knew it was all stupid and fake. At the same time, I knew I couldn't tell anyone about this or I would be ostracized. We are continuously always in High School (or Kindergarden). You cannot stop society, you just learn to live with it.

This is a run to the bottom with people on prices. I mean I get it, paying $70 for a AAA game with DLC's and a battle pass is outrageous. Paying full price for No Man Sky is worth it only because its been out 10 years and you know your going to spend the hours in it. But what about the guy who makes a decent 2D game, not as good as SilkSong, but passable with a good 20 hours of play? You cannot even judge your enjoyment by price either. Look at Undertale. Its not the kind of game for everyone, yet its loved by those who grok it. On the other hand, SilkSong took 7 years and after a few months the hype will die out. They made enough on the last game they could take their time and not worry about the profits.

  Meh I am just confused on what I should or shouldn't pay now. You got Steam sales, thousands of games in the market, great gems with like 20 reviews because they were never featured yet want $30 bucks. It's a mad house I tell you.

I am just waiting for swarm bots to determine a shelter for civilians gets glassed because they determined it was a "hostile army". You could even go farther for an enemy to make it look, just enough, to fool an AI but not a human operator. War is just an extension of Politics they say.
