Indian programmers this week all developed severely running sh*ts, concerned that AI could take over crashing jets and put them out of work. However, enterprising developers even now are switching to nuclear plant control coding. Said Haripriya Bunbu: "It's that or run a food truck in Mountain View. I have to feed my 13 anchor babies."

1. LLM is not AGI and it will not lead to proper AGI. Generative LLM is partly hype. And NN is NOT the only way to go.
2. There are different grades of AGI and we are closer than 10 years to the lowest level of AGI.
3. The mainstream has been on the wrong path to AGI. AGI requires some symbolic computing and new architectures despite what the nay-sayers have maintained. You CAN speed up symbolic with the right parallelism and arch.
4. AGI requires some human-like characteristics to be built in. AGIs will have have some personality derived from some of the things that have to be included. This is is because some things require it. An LLM cannot answer 'what was it like when you first had sex?' Some AGI functions will require empathy to human behaviors.

Absolutely correct. And the Newsom metaphor is exactly on target.

I work on AGIs and it has been abundantly clear that LLMs are very flawed insofar as evolving to emulate human mind level. However, I have AGI designs that follow a far different path to do things very much better. I will have papers and books coming out on this.

I've viewed the LLM hype as being dishonest, perhaps for a rea$on. All that money, going to build megacomputing to support LLM input processing is a blind red herring. Nvidia and the cloud providers all smelled money so that path gets hyped, but I think future technology will show it is a false path. The human brain has massive parallelism but it can do one-shot learning - which how humans learn, grow, and evolve their knowledge handling, quite differently. LLM training is a kind of boondoggle.

The root cause for that is this: in India, Indians who think they speak English teach other Indians, who teach English too. At the tail of the chain you end up with gibberish. I constantly get called by recruiters who cannot be understood at all, and who mangle speech so badly. This is the speech equivalent of street-shitting level of quality.
