It's not that dumb a question, as it brings up the trade-offs inherent in spaceflight and planning. Yes, you could, but then the problem you face is the additional mass added by the shielding you've employed. This will cut into the mass of other stuff you can put aboard your spacecraft. For some purposes, massive shielding might be essential (perhaps for some reason they need the additional processing power), but for most, the current systems will work.
I immediately checked to see if this page was up: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virgin_Killer
I have never seen "unnecessary" porn on Wikipedia. I've seen nude diagrams in biology articles, and pictures like the one above, but I don't scroll through "Taylor Series" so I can find a threesome.
1. Adobe are constantly making it faster. They've been doing that with every release. Whether people actually code it correctly is another thing. They've been constantly updating the GPU acceleration, memory footprint, etc.
2. I can't tell when a site is using flash - it has no visible performance hit on any of my PCs.
3. So is HTML in general...
Yeah so?
Blackberry does it on their devices, Hotmail does it, Android phones do it. So you hate all of them too?
No, just Apple. Why? Because they're fucking Apple.
It means an Ubuntu PC will work with the majority of sites on the Internet while yours won't. Now you can moan about that as much as you like, but 99% of people just don't care - they just want their PC to work.
Shouldn't Canonical port Internet Explorer 6 to Linux then?
gold and silver are almost completely immune to government meddling that bonds, shares, paper money and real estate are subject to
By the time that the government (or anybody else) can just seize your land with no compensation, they will also be able to seize any gold or silver you have too.
Er.. 12GB.. not MB.
The same thing goes for other consumer technologies. Insurance companies are willing to throw down thousands on huge, ugly, bulky Augmentative Communication devices for autistic kids, but I bet they wouldn't put down the $400 on an iPod Touch + Proloquo2Go, which is a) a much better solution altogether, and b) less likely to be rejected by younger kids.
A lot of kids reset having to carry around a huge box that marks them as needing special assistance - even if they really do need that assistance just to communicate. Putting that same functionality into an otherwise awesome iPod makes the kid a lot less likely to throw the device out a window in frustration- especially if the kid has music and games on it too. Unfortunately, the same music, games, and social flags that cause the kid to accept it is what causes the insurance companies to not pay for it.

Do you restrict *any* kind of alien exe file? 'cause I'd use Portable Firefox anyway.
Actually I quite enjoy single-malt Scotch (not Walker blended swill), something from Speyside preferably. Can't stand any sort of smoke though, so the cigar would be out. Also, I'm a big fan of port baby back ribs, served wet and smoked, or a NY Strip steak, moderately seasoned and cooked medium-well. The Wii Fit likes to debate whether I am obese or overweight on a weekly basis, I hover right around 30 BMI. So I think you could safely say I enjoy food.
My point is, you can do all of those things you mentioned without alcohol (It's quite easy to go to a bar and drink soda...I did it for years until I got a taste for good bourbon and scotch). Without food...well you kind of...die. I was just comparing and contrasting different restricted items as a part of my argument.
