I would pay to watch trump on a horse attacking a wind turbine and falling off.

According to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, he (supposedly) very severely bruised his left/other hand at Davos just bumping it on a desk, imagine what riding a horse would do to him - or him doing any of the Rambo-like things on various MAGA posters.

I'd be curious what their investment looks like. Did they forget to subtract the grants, etc., that they were given?

I read an article a while ago that said companies compare ROI to develop, market and sell a drug (before the patent expires) to what they'd get by just investing the money in the markets over that time and if they think the markets will provide a greater / faster return then it doesn't make financial sense to develop something. Don't know if that's actually true, but makes sense from a financial / shareholder standpoint because - bottom line - the company is there to make money.

That was a great, but kinda crazy, language !

I wrote a lot of stuff in that way, way back. Some to create/control portable GUI objects via a command line interface for non-GUI apps. Also wrote some custom InstallJammer (InstallShield lookalike) code for a project that needed a cross-platform Windows/Linux/Solaris installer.

I used to read these kinds of stories and think things like "I'm glad I don't live in a place where the government can do things like that." By "that," I mean making a public example out of people with zero evidence, and likely zero recourse for the people in question, all to intimidate the population it should be serving.

Fast forward to today, and that sort of thing has become so blatant and so obvious, that it doesn't always make the news.

And to top it all off we have the insanely high levels of hypocrisy involved, as Trump was screaming from the rooftops for 4 years how everything was unfair and how the then-current administration was weaponizing every bureau it could against him. You know all that stuff Biden's people gave him a few light slaps on the wrist for for doing obvious and blatantly illegal shit.

For example, ignoring all the abuses by ICE and DHS, Trump wants to fire Fed Governor Lisa Cook "for cause" simply because he (his administration) *said* she (allegedly) misstated something on a mortgage application years before she was appointed to the Federal Reserve (noting that the bank still hasn't complained) - without giving any due process or allowing her to challenge the assertions. At the moment, SCOTUS seems dubious, even the conservative justices, and of the expedited review: Supreme Court appears inclined to prevent Trump from firing Fed governor

A larger satellite can have a larger signals collecting area, can have much more sophisticated electronics, can have better shielding against radiation, and (if it uses solar panels) can have substantially larger panels because it'll have the fuel to maneuver.

Sure, but make these "communication satellites" too big and countries may be tempted to secretly hide weapons inside them, maybe even nuclear warheads, then if/when those satellites malfunction, a crew of, say, Space Cowboys will have to be sent to service them, only then discovering the truth and hopefully saving us all from certain disaster. Sure, it sounds unimaginable, but ... :-)

Way back in the '80s a friend had a jacked-up Chevy S-10 Blazer (which was a fairly big vehicle) with over-sized, off-road type tires, painted bright orange - like a construction cone - with white trim. An elderly woman ran into the back of the vehicle and said she didn't see it. Boggle the mind.

They're not even practicing getting into orbit around the moon, which would be needed for a landing.

The (uncrewed) Artemis I mission did this in 2022, so, at least, the equipment has already been tested for that. I imagine the astronauts have spent a bunch of time in simulations on the ground, training for all kinds of situations.
