Once upon a time, slashdot had millions of viewers and posts would incredible number of views. Slashdot once even had the /. effect where if a story was linked on the site, it could upend traffic. Now, it is not even a decimal. Slashdot is nowhere near the top 1000 web sites. Currently, if you look at posts 50 is the average. This sight has fallen because threads like these get down modded because the leftist point of view got challenged. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Down mowing should be for name calling or illogical arguments. Neither was in the parent post. What did happen was someone who want to suppress free speech got angry and could not make an argument. Free speech exists so that ideas can be challenged. This means you might run into something that you do not like or proves what you held dear to be incorrect. Lashing out at what you can't defend does not make you correct. It makes you a small, petty, Nazi (in the real sense of the word)

In any case, congratulations. You have whittled your community down to about 200 like minded people. It is a small bubble. A stupid bubble. But, I guess it is yours now. Good bye slashdot. Slashdot now generates less revenue than the average computer programers salary. (about $9000 dollars a month.) It has become a pathetic shell of itself. I miss the awesome ideas, bringing up far reaching and obscure articles about science, and that certain, deep humor that epitomized slashdot. I guess like a bad relationship ending, I was holding out to see if it will ever be as good it as it was. It really will never be good again. Enjoy your collective stupid. You earned it.

Ps. Firefly really is not that good. Almost no one liked it. Look at the amount of audience being low.

I had purchased a copy of office for my Mac in the early 2000's. It worked reasonably, well, and moved it from Mac to Mac over the years. Since it is 32 bit, it no longer works. Reasonable.

This is how software used to be. If I reading the /comments correct, this is not the case for this. It is tied to a single computer. If I upgrade, it is gone. Not the same.

It is not as it is currently formed. It could be more. That is why it is our loss that it will stay censored and prompted up by false bots inflating propaganda.

You are alluding to some boogey man as your argument. This is not well reasoned, logical, or worthy of thought. If you are so correct that you dismiss others, at least make a rational argument....especially when you are so wrong.

Elon has a great record of keeping free speech when criticized. See, I can type a sentence backed by no evidence too. Are you sure he has a bad track record, or are you just repeating a line because Musk is out of favor from a certain cult? Also, we know from recent releases twitter actually was suppressing speech against anyone who disagreed with them. Has Elon done anything close to that level? Remember, free speech does not mean only ideas you already agree with.

Love him or hate him, Elon's move to try to make twitter a free speech platform was what our society needs. The world is getting complete screwed up by powerful oligarchs who are controlling the message, and not allowing dissent.

The painful truth is that the inflation is all from left wing stupid. Doing things like canceling pipeline in US to buy oil from Russia really drove up prices. Not to mention installing tons of moronic industry killing legislation. Everyone, apparently 4 or 5 very stupid people from Ca know who caused the problem and why. Don't you dare blame others for you stupid.

To all the millennial who still don't get it: Many (not all) in your generation are stupid and lazy and entitled. When you entered to work place, you were useless. You were very good at social media, being inefficient, and having no worthwhile skills. You were very good at being self absorbed, arrogant, and blaming every -ist and ism on your failures, instead of taking criticism and getting better at life.

Stemming from this laziness and overall incompetence, you never made money. The shell start-up corporations that you joined nearly all failed. The larger ones are now failing, because lets be honest about it, your output is really low, and no one can afford that amount of drain. You are inferior to workers from other countries, and it is far easier to train someone in English and import them, then dealing with your whiny, inept ass.

The generations above you did not "get theirs" due to some nebulous favorable climate that was handed to them. The generations before you invented any things ranging from the personal computer to materials that transcended wood and steel. Your generations only contribution is Facebook, which is when you get down to it, just a bad webpage and based on technology from the giants before you. If you want to win at life, try to do more, create more, work harder, and whine far less. Oh, and by work harder it does not mean staring at your phone for 19 hours instead of being on task. Try. Doing. Actual work. For example, 13 guys created diablo, including all the art. Could 13 millennial even manage to order lunch without fucking it up?

I would love to be proven wrong, but you are the literal joke to the world. You can't make good movies. You can't make new things. You were given the keys to golden city, and through your sheer inability to do nothing but whine, you failed. Anyone else we put into this system wins. It really is just you. Get better at life.
