If I ran one of these companies looking to build a data center, I might consider striking a deal with a farmer to build my center under his land without disturbing his farming operation (too much. ) There would be a lot of research needed to make sure that it was doable, reasonably affordable and would not harm the farmers land, but it’s another approach they could take.

This just seems like Apple is looking for ways to look arbitrary and capricious with their App Store rules enforcement. They have all kinds of rules around porn and CSAM but the ai platforms do whatever they want. Maybe the load of adjudication just isnâ(TM)t worth it to Apple anymore and they want the feds to step in as governments in other countries have.

I have to agree. I am in the same boat. Went from a 12PM running 18 to a new 17PM stuck with 26. It is such a buggy and unreliable mess. Almost everything that I was used to iOS just doing well is messed up. Even dictation and typing (which used to be fine) suck,

Every nationwide poll shows a pretty even 3 way split in the electorate. 1/3 want to end it, 1/3 want to stay on DST and 1/3 want to keep it as is. This means that any change the Congress makes will piss off 2/3's of the electorate.

In the US, the Congress's main mission is to stay elected; passing legislation that is contrary to that singular mission is not allowed and will never happen.

Hence, no change to DST is coming.

Exactly and not surprising. In my experience it isoften just as fast to rewrite sections of code from scratch than to try and figure out and band-aid bad code

I donâ(TM)t see an air taxi service succeeding for short range trips, esp commuting, if it canâ(TM)t be depended upon. Normal (not extreme) weather events have very little effect on commuters. You can still drive or take a taxi or a train even if it is rainy or windy.

The ones doing nothing are less damaging than the ones who are actively screwing code by not understanding the problem they are solving or just not being able to code worth a damn. Over my career as a consultant I’ve more than once had to tell a customer I could fix a particularly bad piece of code with several days effort or just rewrite it properly from scratch in about 1/3 the amount of time.

This is beyond stupid. Software is written and written things are copyrighted. Putting a patent on software would be like putting a patent on the concept of a novel that’s a mystery with a female detective. Then no one else could write that exact kind of book.

The CFOs job seems much more structured and rules driven than the CEOs. They also seem to be the most dispassionate part of the C-Suite. It would seem like not only the CFOs job but much of both their organization and treasury should be relatively straightforward to replace. I’d look seriously at everyone in the organization with an MBA as a likely candidate for replacement.

I wonder if they use more of a check-in approach? The machines could phone home every so often. If they donâ(TM)t have a successful call home they try again with an escalating level of urgency that culminates in a disabled machine if it goes too long without success. If it is not a reversible event(ie it destroys components) then it would need to be an interval at least long enough in normal times to allow for proactive efforts in Taiwan and the Netherlands to prevent problems when everyday operations are affected (outside of a war.). If I ran the company in the Netherlands Iâ(TM)d also have a contingency plan to protect my employees and their families from kidnap and coercion if such an invasion happened.

Think about it. They made a terrible investment when they bought 30,000 Teslas and nothing is ever more important than the bottom line. Most customers probably never notice the charge (esp corporate users) and they blow off the fee that do. All the while the bottom line recovers a bit more. Our education system has abandoned most 'life skills'. Those include things that everyone needs to know (basic cooking & cleaning; how to change a tire; how to manage money; etc.) But we're going to have a high school teacher (who usually can't code their way out of a wet paper bag much less design a ui or debug data access code) 'teach' students programming.

This will probably set the students programming skill back rather than helping them.

I could see if they wanted to focus on teaching students how to use typical UIs; how to use their devices securely; how to protect their identity; understanding (at a high level) how networks and routers work, etc but having people who can't code (or write user specs or write functional specs or design UIs or test cases) teach students who have no interest (or probably aptitude) in programming is a joke.

By the time most kids who really want to program have gotten to HS they will have already figured out more than than a HS teacher can teach.

We continue to degrade our education system a little more each year.

This should make the users of PWAs happy.
