I think they could have been technically very much true but misleading in spirit by trying to present it as evidence that the merger has nothing to do with it. I'd expect any multi billion venture to have a plan for raising prices, and a plan for lowering prices, and a plan for like dozen other contingencies they might take depending on other factors; it's worth setting up "plans" even for things you're currently not expecting to be the thing you gonna do, because if something changes and pushes you to that decision, you can still have much of the effects mapped out and "planned for".

You can see how badly the game runs on current console hardware even in the cherry-picked footage they showed to you in the trailer.

Game is confirmed to be aiming at 30FPS on launch on the consoles that they've been targeting for like 8 years now.

Coupled with the "exclusive cloud-streaming rights" it sounds to me like they're releasing the PC port this early so people can try to run it on their GTX 1660 and find out that's unplayable and then dejectedly pay hourly to play it on Xbox cloud instead.

Anyway, a month back, I just did my first complete playthrough of GTA4 and it was a blast. Everything maxed out even though my GPU is 6 years old (still decade newer than the game), mods actually fixed most of the billion bugs left in the official releases, as well as the performance that was atrocious without bugs even on today hardware. Got the game including DLC for like $15 at some point.

I'm looking towards maybe playing GTA6 someday perhaps in .~2035; if we make it that far, it sounds like that might be a decent experience by then.

Oh and I don't think they even tried to build a 80 billion datacenter they don't have power for, with money they can't afford to borrow, to serve customers they don't have.

Look, I agree on the politics of TOS being plenty woke. TOS was causing outrages regularly. Sadly, I also find TOS borderline unwatchable as television these days; to my mind, TNG is the first era of startrek vaguely watchable in completeness and having an okay time as far as acting, pacing and storytelling goes. But also, by late TNG, it feels like it already really lags behind the progress of the times, compared to TOS.

I've watched https://ancillary-proxy.atarimworker.io?url=https%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2F... a few days ago, sober, and it was one of the worst expireinces consuming media I've had this year. It was physically painful, and by 1994, they really oughta have known fuckin' better.

The stuff coming out these days seems more concerned with "but what if we're too woke?? what if the fascist spook section really is good and necessary-oh whoops it got eaten by genocidal robots that just came from somewhere for some reason, well I guess it's finally conveniently evil now and we don't have to worry about moral conflict anymore".

Statrek started proper woke, then barely progressed past what was woke when it did, aging like a gen Xer getting upset that racism means something else than when it was sufficient to agree slurs are bad, segregation is bad, but opposing "well meant" racist jokes is step too far.

So many of the plotlines are just neoliberal both-side bullshit refusing to take an actual moral stance on anything. So much "It's so very complicated :(" hogwash. Babylon 5 gets proper dirty with way more candid and realistic depictions of subtle ways fascism poisons even well meaning groups and structures and actually asks of the protagonists to genuinely own up for their past flaws and mistakes rather than "never again, I've decided I'm a good person now" caricatures of how humans actually function.

Okay, cool, but the heating effect on your head of stepping into direct sunlight, even wearing a hat and sunscreen is more than the total transmission power of a phone. Even if your apparently unusually large and dense brain somehow absorbed every last bit of energy radiated by the phone (ensuring you're not having a phone call), the net effect would still be less than just sunlight hitting your head.

Any meaningful, sudden, uncorrected change in temperature of your brain will instantenously knock you unconscious and you're not gonna be having a phone call loooooooong before it has any chance of making some nebulous "unusual chemical reactions more probable". Thankfully, your brain is VERY actively controlling its own temperature, which is the reason why, for instance, stepping from a shade into open sunlight, which exposes your head to orders of magnitude higher amounts of absorbed energy than having a phone call, doesn't do anything bad to you.
